The TC3 looks nice but if you have the money you could HPI's Pro4 which looks sweet

If you're just starting out and never raced an RC car on a track with borads, I'd suggest the 4-Tec. Find one used, get a handle on driving, than move up to the TC3. The 4-tec will still be there after you smashed into a board over and over again. I have put in a few dozen races this year (one race day = 4 to 5 races) and all i've broken is the rear hub carrier. Very tough car. Now that I can drive without being to friendly with the boards, I'm moving up to a more race worthy car next year (xxx-s maybe). This is just my opinion....

TC3 hands down. More support. Much easier to get parts for. More hopups. Peformance is there if you ever plan to race it (which you say you are). And just an all around better car. Why invest money twice when you can invest it once with the right car the first time around. Get the BRP side nerf wings to protect the rear arms.. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSR45&P=7 And get the RPM front wide bumper to protect the front end. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCXJ9&P=7 Plus there should be alot of local people at the track to guide you in the right direction (support, once again...)

Only downside of the tc3, is its not near as durable as a 4-tec. So if your completly new to driving, be ready to buy replacement parts.
