My Tamiya Fox came with a little foam motor filter that just slipped over the can and had two holes for the wire to pass through. Does anyone else remember these? Does anyone know why they aren't around anymore? It was nice at keeping stuff out of the motor vents. I made two of my own from scrap foam because I found a washer inside the lower vent of my best motor during a "pit stop". Sure wish I knew why they stopped making these things. They just seem like a great idea to protect our expensive motors from debris. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Maybe because it might overheat the motor
from lack of air i donno.

Ammo: yeah, probably get too hot with foam over the vent holes. But here is a thought...... grab a piece of your wifes old pantyhose and make a cover out of that. I think I might try that too http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I was too was thinking heat might be a problem. SInce I only used stock mtors with the foam filters overheating wasn't a problem. The Tamiya stock motors don't seem to get as hot as others do. But on the other hand they don't generate the power of a "labeled" stock wind motor either. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif
Not a bad Idea old phart! Now I just have to figure out how to secure the hose to the motor. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/wink.gif Since I am borrowing things fromt the wife I might try the little hair thingys that look like fancy rubber bands. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif I think I will still use the foam for when my motors are in storage though. They seem to be tiny parts catchers lately.
