Well, fall's coming on me quickly, and it'll be winter soon. I own a Turbo Vee II (check the username) electric, and I was just wondering, can I just shelve the boat, or is there some maintenence or technique to keep it OK through the winter?
Also, it it safe to clean the exterior/interior of the boat with some alchohol and a cloth? I get some seaweed on the bottom of the boat, and I want to clean out some of the dirty water leakage that gets in occasionally.

So, in short:

1. Anything needed to put the boat away for the winter?
2. Is alchohol safe on exterior(ABS)/interior of the boat?

As for the alcohol, i'v used it on my ABS boat for a while now, and it hasn't been a problem. Also, as long as it's clean and dry, you should be able to store it in a dry (no rust) place for as long as you need without problems.

I imagine if your storing outside I would give any metal a light coat of oil just to keep rust from forming

I would spray all the hardware with LPS or WD-40 anyway. It will prevent any kind of corrossion. Also, lube the drive/flex shaft like normal maintenance. It will protect it and leave one less thing to do when you bring it out of Mothballs in the spring

When I store any of my boats, I leave the canopy or deck off or loose and I do not put the lid on the sealed radio box. Doing this prevents any condensation from getting trapped inside.

I totally agree, and moisture will kill any unprotected electronics and nonstainless metal parts. Uh....Matt, shouldn't your title be Editor, Boss Man or something like that? :D
