Hey guys,
i am new to this forum.
i have a xxx spec Losi buggy with, epic stock, mvp stock and core stock motors. My batts are all 1400's. i was wondering if they would last for a 5 minute race on a off road track with some low conservative gearing.
thanks neil

most likely u could stretch them to run that long. i regularly run fully matched 1400's in the qualifiers. i recomend using those for peactice and getting one nice used set of 3000's or 2400's

Nah your if they are in good condition and you properly discharge them, 1400's should last five minutes easy, and you won't have to gear down rediculously. Just gear for optimum so you don't stress out your motor and have good punch out of the corners. I have ten-year-old Sanyo 1500 packs that still give me a good 6-7 minutes. No one's going to agree, but the lower mah's have always seem to have more punch than the higher one's, but I still use a digital voltmeter and manually peak them too (lol . . old schoolers . . . hehe)

BTW welcome aboard! :D

PS without all the expensive equipment, the way to tell if you have a "good" pack - get a good full charge on it and go out and run it (you could time it too to see if it meets your five minutes.) When the battery starts to go watch carefully. You should feel a "softening" of the punch that will last maybe a half or a full lap, then it should just go from running to dead QUICK, like in no more than 10-15 seconds. Boom it's dead. If it dies down to a putter and you can run around for another minute or two minutes, that pack has some bad cells or has formed a memory.

Hate to barge in, but if you want I have a bunch of old "race conditioned" 2000 packs I'd sell... they're just sitting on the floor of my garage. I'd let them all go reeeeal cheap...

if the batteries are on concrete take pick them up asap because if you don't then they don't last as long.

on a rug on concrete. Well, let me see what I have, but probably something like $5 each plus shipping would do... If I remember right there are 4 or 5 2000mah saddle packs, 2 2000mah practice packs in stick config, and 2 1700mah practice packs in saddle. $45 plus shipping if there's 9 of 'em. I can't certify the condition of them all, I've taken good care of them, but haven't used them in a while (like over a year). They were always charged with a tekin flex charger, and discharged on a tray. If don't want to take them all that's fine too. I can post pics, but not until sunday night.

Not to butt my nose where it doesn't belong, but we have some nice prices on GP3300's on our site if you are looking for some new cells. As good as the prices as these used packs.

you can get real good batteries for under $40. Look at tower. they have a 3000NIMH pack for less than 20.

Don't ya'll just love when the business people sign up to advertise? LOL!

There's some decent 3000 stick packs on tower ranging from 19-25 bucks. I have epic 3000mah stick packs i use, and they last a LONG time and are a great bang for the buck for me. If you want some better batts though, cheap battery packs.com has some good stuff, and fusion batteries.
