Hi,

What is a Front One-Way Joint and where does it go in a car.

I have 2 of them, and I'm not sure where they go. I bought them because I thought they were somthing else.

They didn't come with any instructions.

Thanks!

A one-way is a type of differential used in 4wd cars (mostly touring cars). With a 4wd car all the wheels are attached to the drive train and the motor. When you let off the throttle or apply brakes all four wheels are used to stop. This can be good on low traction tracks where the extra breaking is needed. For high traction or flowing tracks, which don't require much or any breaking, all four wheels are not needed to brake. The front wheels, which do the steering, with a traditional differential will brake like the rear wheels. On a high traction course this lessens the steering ability of the car. The one-way allows the wheels to keep rolling forward when breaks are applied. This give the car better turning, but less breaks. I've also heard of people using rear one-ways before, but I've never done it myself. If you're just bashing, there is no reason to have a one-way. Depending on the track you run a one-way might be better, but it all comes down to your driving style. If you're a coaster, like me, and tend to let off the throttle, coast through the corner, and then accelerate the one-way is good for you. If you break going into corners a one-way will tend to cause your car to spin, but it's all about the driver. If you plan on racing I'd keep a one-way incase you choose to use it. If not, return them and get something else. Hope this information helped!
