I have got this motor on a used RC I picked up. The motor looks mint, but I think it's pretty old? It's a Trinity 5 Degree 27 turn stock motor. The 5 degrees to me tells me it's dated? Is it a weak motor?

It's not exactly an ancient motor, but yes, it's a bit old. That was a motor that Trinity tried to sell to create a sportsman/spec class, much like stock but just a bit slower, so a less experienced driver would have an easier time learning to drive & setup his car. As for performance, I never tested one, but I'd guess it'd perform somewhere between a regular stock & a Mabuchi 540 motor....

The 5 degree motors were introduced around 1998 or so. The motors were proposed as a means to reduce speeds, reduce wear both to motors and cars. The motors were never a big hit for racers or race tracks. For oval racing most tracks went to a 4cell limit in order to reduce speeds and the damage you received in 6cell racing.
