If you haven't heard yet, TLC (The Learning Channel) is starting a new program called Robotica on Wed. nights at 9pm. It appears to be a spin on Battle Bots with radio controlled robots. You might want to check it out...

I just finished watching it. I think its way better than battlebots. In Robotica robots not only fight but they also compete in many different way..Like racing, going to obtacles, etc. I like it its the greatest.

Yeah i just seen it and it looks like a good
show, the robots can use a little refining though i've seen some pretty tricked out robots on battlebots.

one of the guys had the multiplex profi as a tx, to bad it didnt help him drive that well on the speedway.

but some of those guys just were plain horrible at driving their cars. you think with all the time they spent they would be better drivers.

also, i found it to be a nice battlebots, robotwars or whatever the bbc show is hybrid,

however i really hate amhed zappa, i did when he was on mtv too.

but i hope they wont all be wedges from now on

Hey Steve!

You guys should do an article that covers a robotica "robot" (RR) A Lot of the guys that design these things are into RC big time. It would be funny to do the stats and compare a RR to a E-Max or something goofy like that http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

i would rather see r/c racing than either battlebots or robotica. i think both are cool though. i wish they would show more detail about the cars insides, i thought that robotica, b/c it is on tlc would go more in depth about the robots.
i will watch them, but like i said, i think r/c racing would be much cooler

I just watched Robotica last night and was all ready to start a thread today. Looks like I'm late. I liked the concept better, but I didn't like that goofy announcer too much. The obstacle course looked tough. And I agree that some of those guys cannot drive. You WOULD THINK that they would practice driving after spending so much time and cash.

I liked it but that host guy is anoying.
Accept for the race through the bricks and stuff they didn't do anything that my T3 could not do better and faster. They should practice driving alot more. It made me mad that they made the maze so that all the robots would get jammed it the spike door thing and that they couldn't get over the stupid speed bumps in front of the geoteen. The last event with the big fall was good
overall i liked it

i don't like robotica as much as battle bots. Some of the events are realy boring. The maze is ok but they should take out the speed bumps. It's good that they have other things other than fighting but they need to change alot of things

yr4_m2_racer they tear each other to peices in the american version of battlebots too. Thats why its cool, better than robotica but they are both cool

I have to confess, BattleBots doesn't do it for me. None of the bots are operated very well, and they don't do much. How many variations of wedge-with-a-hammer-attached can there be? I would rather see two guys smash a pair of off-the-shelf RC trucks together, demolition-derby style, than watch any two of the current hammer robots go at it.

If I were to be a Battle Bot contestant, I would first build a vehicle (let's face it, they aren't robots)that handles well. Most of the time, the vehicles can't even get close to each other because they handle like junk (or the operators can't drive worth a poop--probably a combination of the two). I think the vehicle is actually more important than the weapon, since the points for hits count for much more than any actual damage the hits cause. The more precisely you can drive the vehicle into striking distance, the more hits you can get.

That said, I would still prefer to rip the other guy's vehicle in half than win on lame points, so there would be some kind of cool weapon(s)in there...but you can bet it wouldn't just be some hammer.

Any votes as to which RC company could build the most killer BattleBot? I think Hardcore Racing could build one helluva mean machine.

I'll Pit my rc10gt against robotica. The first two challenges would be easy, but the gauntlet would be impassible after the cans.
Have to killem on points. LOL http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/tongue.gif

hey Peter, in some ways i think your right, there are a lot of the same in superheavyweight, and heavyweight classes.but in lightweight its a different story, http://www.comedycentral.com/bots/index_flash.shtml and check out battlebots. also about the steering, i think they are bad at it,but imagine trying to steer a 400pound machine.
