You're playing with fire there, especially if it controls a nitro. Best off is to replace the wire with a similar gauge multi-strand wire. Open up the RX, carefully de-solder the spot where the old wire connects, and re-solder a new one of the same length in it's place.

if you dont feel very secure by doing it, you can go to professional, he should do it for a small fee, its delicate job

I recently replaced my wire by soldering the two together and than putting shrink wrap over it to keep it secure and it has worked out good. I didn't feel like messing with the actual reciever and screw the electronics up.

you can get wire from an electronics store and cut it to the same length of the wire that was on the reciever. Just unsolder the old antenna and put on the new one.

Go to your LHS and ask for receiver wire. Futaba sells it seperately. If you're really good with a soldering iron, bust open the case and unsolder the wire that's on the board, then put the new one on. Easy enough if you're careful. If you suck with an iron or don't trust yourself, see if the LHS will do it for you. But realize that if they screw it up, it's not warrantied. So you're hosed.
You can splice it fine but you have to kinda keep an eye on it because the wire does get a little more fragile there where you soldered it.
