Ungar Super Race Station Soldering Iron

I remember a few weeks ago, someone was looking for a place to purchase the Ungar Race Station Soldering Iron. I talked to my LHS and they said that Weller purchased Ungar and had discountined the Race Station. I was doing some research today on the Internet and found that Sheldon Hobbies (http://www.btown.com/sheldons/) still sells the Super Race Station Soldering Irons for 98.00. These are the units with the adjustable temp control up to 800.

I have just started getting into the RC Racing scene and was told this was the solder iron to buy.

I don't recommend dealing with Sheldon's Hobbies. I called to purchase this same soldering iron. The guy that I talked to (Ron), was VERY VERY rude to me, when I tried to ask a question he responded 2-3 times "isn't that what I just said sir? you have to open your ears and listen". After about 15-20 seconds and being insulted 3-4 times, HE HUNG UP ON ME. What a jerk. I highly recommend caution when dealing with these guys if Ron is any indication of their level of customer service...

P.S. I ordered the Weller WLC100 (replacement for the super race station) from an electronics supply store in New Jersey, and I only paid $40 for it. IN YER FACE SHELDON'S HOBBIES!

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Sheldon Hobbies. When I called I asked to speak with someone in the RC Car Section and it seemed that they went out of their way to answer all my questions. They went through all the specs of the Race Station as well as the Super Race Station. Overall, I was very happy with their service.
