Xmods are fun to mess around with, and people are coming out with aftermarket chassis, motors, and FET upgrades so these things can actually be raceable with an extra 100 buck dropped into them. There's all sorts of strictly Xmod upgrades like the stage 2 motors, different tires, wheels, lights, bodykits, etc. The only performance things, and only things I'd bother getting for that matter, are the stage 2 motors and a tire set. Other than that, all the other junk is wasted money. Rechargable AAAs are a good thing to have too, since they eat alkalines like cookie monster eats cookies. If you shop around you can find TONS of aftermarket upgrades as well, such as CF chassis, aftermarket mod motors (many have to be used with FET upgrades, which basically increase the amount of voltage that can be input, and amperage that can be drawn through the circuit board. "Hotter" motors draw more amperage, so they need FET upgrades.) They're a great bang for the buck type of thing if you're just getting started. :)

can you tell me where you guys buy your r/c cars (if you live in canada) and can you explain the technical words you just used thanks

erdaman, welcome to the boards, BTW.
Couple of technical words:
CF-Carbon Fiber: carbon fibers interwoven to produce a lightweight yet rigid material
FET-Field Effect Transistor: electonic component, think of it as current (amperage) amplifier
2 Stage Motors: better motor, however, it requires a higher current draw (amperage)
