Myself and another member of ORCRC took a trip down to the Lazy M Farms... out in BFE between Portland & Salem. Paul, the owner, has approx 29 acres of land that is starting to be taken over by RC's. Currently he has two large tracks and a crawling area. The tracks are huge and the crawling area is growing too. We were invited to come in and test what he has so far... it's going to grow after he saw what crawlers can really do.

The Lazy M Farms land is very nice. You feel right at home just hanging out. If you get tired of crawling, bust out your nitro buggy or truck and have at the track(s).

The 'Tot got a make over but still needs a bit of work to function correctly. Right now it's setup like a go-fast hill climber... no gear reduction or much flex, about 4" of up travel  It's a blast to drive though :P

Some pics.....

The 'Tot goes pink....

This short and steep climb was quite tough, loose dirt, loose rocks and large rocks in the wrong spots.... it was great!

Paul said he's more than happy to make the crawling area as large as it needs to be for us crawler guys. It'll be great to have a place to hang out like this.... even cooler that we can rebuild the rock courses the way we want.

Kongs... both trucks normally run Kongs. I had to swap to another set due to rounding out the hex portion of the wheels when running the Kongs :D

I don't see why not... it's an awesome area and the owner is all about RC's. Nitro cars/trucks are asked to show up after 11:30-12(noon) just to be more neighbor friendly :)

If you're in that area and are intrested in going there, email me at bcarlson@rcrockgear.com and I'll give you the contact info.

That's some awesome stuff there toyofast! I actually WAIT for these threads to be posted, they're just so cool! Makes me want to build a rock crawler and take it up to the local construction site...:D Awesome pics as usual too!:)

Question for you as well:

Do you waterproof your trucks or no? If so, do you have any special methods? Being in florida I was looking into making a project truck that can be run in the rain (almost underwater even!) and if you waterproof those, I was wondering if you have some tips for me! Thanks! :)

You want to water proof it like this?? He is crazy!! Watch some of the videos of him. He gets submerged in water.

It's not my car. I guess he used a water proof esc, and balloned the rest. Maybe a water proof reciever (if they have one)

RS4, go to rccrawler.com for enough on a crawler. They have everything you need there. If they don't have it there, they will most likely have it at clodtalk.com ...

Looks like I'm gonna have to order an Msonik waterproof ESC... Now for the receiver..:D

Toyo, how much does a rockcrawler run with all the stuff you need?

lol...thanks for the heads up, i was thinking of using that one. Maybe a tempo 11 will work out, but i don't think there's reverse:(. First i'll try an MSC to see how that fairs, if it fries no big loss. It's all coming together now.... :D

All the stuff I need? If I were to build a new crawler I'd need about $700-800 for all new parts.

There are so many different options to pick from it's crazy. You first have to decide on axles.... you want a Clod or a shafty? Start with that question, then work your way from there.

Before buying anything do research, research and more research. Buying a crawler isn't like buying a TC3 or a T-Maxx. You don't just buy it... you actually have to build it. Most the time you make your own parts if you want good stuff.

Check out RCRockGear.com and RCCrawler.com for goodies and info ;)
