I have a stock T-Maxx (with the exception of a fuel filter) and my engine is having serious trouble. I started it up yesterday, it ran fine until I had to turn it off (a power converter exploded in front of my house) When I turned it back on later that day, thick gray smoke started pouring out of the pipe. Does anyone know whats happening to my Maxx? Is it time for a rebuild or should I just buy a new engine. If its time for an engine which one should I get, I was thinking about a PICCO .15 If I get that what fuel should I use? Thanks in advance
Hi, I don't know whats wrong with your engine but if you do replace it [which you should do cause the TRX bites] get the Associated .15 that's made for the RTR GT, its supposed to be pretty good. As for fuel most popular fuels will work. The TRX needs a fuel with a higher oil content so it requires a different selection.

Do you know what the specs are for that engine. RPM, Hp, etc.? Thanks.

Ok...I fixed the smoke problem (actually it went away by itself) and then when I tried to drive it the engine just reved but didnt go anywhere. Slipper clutch, that problem solved. Now a bigger problem, when I accelerate it sounds like its about to stall and then a couple seconds later it shoots off the line. Then on the way to top speed it starts stuttering and goes stuttering and goes. When it finally gets up to speed and I so much as tap the wheel, one or both of the front tires will come off the ground and the truck starts going nuts. If anyone has a solution to any of these problems, please post it here, I just wanna drive my Maxx, I just got it a week ago. Thanks, Steve.

You're running waaaayyy to lean if your engine bogs down then goes nuts. Try opening the high end 1/8 to 1/4 turn.

You should be able to send it in to traxxas and replace it for free!
