This information comes from HPI Japan website and it appears, from all descriptions, that this is a drift conversion for the HPI RS4 3 nitro touring car. The engine, radio gear and the two-speed transmission are moved as far forward as possible, increasing steering response and reducing rear traction. Shifting the weight forward on the chassis will make it much easier to pitch the rear of the car around during drifting maneuvers. There's no information concerning this product making it to the States or elsewhere, but it's a cool conversion so here it is! If you like what you see, let the people at HPI USA know that you'd be interested. For more information, visit the HPI Racing (http://www.hpiracing.com) website.
Thanks to Jon Ko for the info!

I like it but I think alot of newbs will burn up there engines preatty quick.
That Manifold looks interesting, connect that to a Kyosho Mantis FF tuned pipe and you'll have the tail pipe coming out the rear.

This conversion kit has 3 different packages: the conversion kit alone / conversion kit with S15 body / conversion kit with FD3S body. Please contact HPI USA for more information (let them know that you'd be interested). ;)

You cut them to look like that. You cut away part of the lexan and you can make any body look like that. For nitro it helps with the cooling.

i know they cut them like that but it looks sweet

I do agree - it looks better than doing a circle or a bunch of little circles for venting. More realistic look. :)

looks cool to me. it would be the first dedicated nitro drift product out there wouldn't it?
i say, bring it to the states.

I wouldn't bother with this conversion! It looks good/cool but not worth the money. I believe that one could get the same drift affect with a pair of bad tires and a poor setup.

I think its meant to be more of a REAl drifter ie. japaneese mountain racer,or rally being that it is still controlable but can slide well.I think its cool it comes with a locked rear diff(they call it a lsd but its a locker).I do really however think it should have made it rwd only now that would be fun to learn how to control.

What difference does a locked rear diff have to do with drifters? I have a locked rear drift in my TC because of all the traction.

The steering servo, (and receiver for that matter) look to be in a dangerous place. Especially in a car you're supposed to drive in an uncontrolled manner.

whats drifiting with a two speed going to be like? i cant imagine it would have any where near as much of control as an electric single speed.
rich.

Whys that? Real drifters use more than one speed. I would think that two speeds would be better for a nitro engine because the engine wouldnt be redlined for so long. Correct me if I am wrong tho.

What do you mean? Will drifting put too much burden on the engine? What should i do to prevent burning up the engine?
Thanks

Drifting can put a lot of strain on the engine, if done wrong. Drifting needs your engine to have enough power to spin the wheels, and if you have too much traction (ex. using foam tires is a BIG no-no) then you will be pushing your engine way to hard, but with the right set up (Crap tires and hard suspension) the engine shouldnt be worked more than in a real hard-core race.

Anyone notice how the pipe is facing in the wrong direction? Kinda strange if you ask me.....

They had to do that cause it wont fit facing forwards with the engine mounted so far up.

Not sure why that is a big deal. But yes it was noticed. If you move the engine forward to put more weight to the front, it makes sense to make room you need to reposition the pipe in some way.

when you take a sharp turn with an unlocked diff...the inside wheel unloads and spins while the outside tire slows down and scrubs off speed, losing the drift.... a locked diff would allow for constant power to both rear wheels no matter what...making it easier for the car to maintain the drift

Hey that exaust pipe looks kinda funny but ya gotta do what ya gotta do to make it work. :D

Well a CVEC pipe would be ok since the stingers just point straight out. Just find other mufflers with straightfoward style stingers. Seriously that isn't the biggest of problems with this setup. It's more of a ... "Is it ever going to be stocked by Tower and How Much?"
