I live in CANADA . if i buy something off someone that is in the USA do I have to pay taxes on it . ( the taxes of my province that is )
Ex; I win bid of 150 usd .and the convert it to Canadian which is say $200cdn. Do I have to pay taxes on it to get to me . My province is 14% .

Yes you have to pay the taxes on those items that the seller put ont he custom forms before he ships the packages.
But if your smart tell the guy to put a small dollar amount like $5.00 and ship as a gift.

you pay taxes on the declared amount. If it's an important item that should be insured and you get the guy to fudge the paper work, you won't be covered if it arrives damaged.
this is why i dont ship to canada when i sell on ebay or any other forum.
if the package gets lost, you have to prove that you did ship him the package and he has to wait a few weeks to see if it shows up. when you add insurance to the package it costs extra and then when it goes through customs the buyer might get charged taxes (duty) on the item.
although i ordered some parts from hong kong and he declared it as a gift and i did not get charged duty fees.

I buy off ebay all the time and I am in Canada. I would say about 25% of my packages get customs charges. 75% get through untouched. I alway get the items shipped USPs Airmail, never use a courier like UPS or FedEx.
