I'm pending if I want to order a 4-tech or not? Is it a pretty good car?

It's a pretty good entry level car and I'd recommend it for someone starting out. It's durable for someone wanting to knock it around the street and raceable in the beginner classes.

I really like them for running around the neighborhood. I've had three now. They're durable, light enough to make pretty fast, and parts are plentiful. I gort good speed out of an Orion Chrome stock motor.

Oh- and they're one of the cheapest touring cars to pick up used!

do they have an ample amount of aftermarket and performance parts for them?

Yes and no. Traxxas makes some hop ups for it but I am not aware of any other aftermarket products for it. Most of the aftermarket companies make hop up for race designed cars rather then play designed cars which is what this is. While the 4 tec has been a good car, it doesn't have the blow the door out popularity of the TC3 or Xray or other race designed car.

Here is a list of the hop ups Traxxas makes for it. http://www.traxxas.com/products/electric/4tec/trx_4tec_accessories.htm

Aftermarket parts include the graphite chassis, big bore shocks, rpm shock tower, aluminum hub carriers, and a few other aluminum parts. Many of the nitro 4-tec parts are interchangalbe with the electric. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVPROFIL=++&FVSEARCH=powerline+4-tec&FVPROFIL=++

I had one, liked it and wish that I hadn't sold it. I will get another if I get the money.

Well, I'm 2nd over all in points with my 4-tec. I'm beating TC3's and xxx-s'es with it. Oh wait, it's not the car what wins, it's the driver, remember that. A car will not win the race for you. It's all in knowing the car and the proper set-up for it.

I've got 6 race days completed with a min. 4 races each time. All I broke so far is the rear hub carrier. Very tough car. I would recommend it to anyone just starting out. Slap in a P2K2 or a 19T Chameleon and your top end will be just as fast as any TC3 or xxx-s. Cornering, well, it takes a while to get the suspension setup properly, but it can be done. The only mod I got is the ball bearings, it's a must!

Honestly though, I think I'd only move up to a higher-end TC if I'd be racing 10t motors. 19T is pushing the limits of this car. I can't seem to find a good setup for speeds faster than with the 19T.

The major weak points on this car is the diffs and the fact there is no front belt tensioner. The diffs are not the smoothest and hard to keep clean.

Flat.
