:confused:Well after a long layoff from the sport, and an avid Paintball "career" I have decided to sell one of my beloved paintball guns and get back into the RC scene.. Now, the origional plan was to buy a T Maxx and trick the crap out of it.. BUT then I started looking at the Revo.. is it worth the wait?? Im only looking into Nitro Monsters, I have an Ofna Ultra GT LX, and an Associated RC10GT Fact. Team. Have been dabbling in RC for ooooh say .... wow.. 17 years.. sheesh thats awhile! I have everything from a Tamaya Frog (STILL WORKS!!) to a Kyosho Optima and a BoLink graphite carpet racer. Im looking to get a little track time, but for the most part, just messin around the house and local park that just happens to have a big hill to play on SO.. I have about $900 to play with from sellin one of my back-up guns.. Whats my best options? Ive been lookin at the Losi truck as well, and I am impressed by it, especially the "4 speed" tranny and the synthesized radio.. How does this truck compare to the Revo, or T maxx? Is it in the same class, will I be able to race it with the 1/10th scale monsters? For those interested in paintball, heres what I have: I sold the Red Nasty Impulse..

thx.. I put it in the Mosnter forum.. after I deleted it here.. My main intrest is the Revo.. but I was fairly interested in the Associated truck as well.. Main use will be around the house, maybe a track day every now and then.. Parts are readily available locally for both.

The Monster GT is one of the Best Race Bred Trucks I have seen...
You defenetly Have a Tuff choice...The Only advice I can really give is to do as Much Studdy (home work) About the RCs you are interested In...Try to find a few articles about the Monster GT and the REVO and also Parts availability...;).

900 bucks... If "I" had it, I would definately go the LST route. I can't wait to get one. You can use the leftover cash to get some nice accessories for it for the future. Beat the crap out of it and see what breaks. Use extra money to replace the weak stuff, and race away.

I would go with the associated MGT. Well built and designed, and can handle what ever you throw at it! Use the extra money to buy some more durable parts.(not that you need them....)

for just bashing around the neighborhood nothing beats the durability of a Savage.

I have the MGT. It is a very tough truck, but I think it's a little under powered for it's size. When I went to buy a MT, it was either the Savage or the MGT. From everything that I read, these two trucks seemed to be the toughest. And since I already had a GT, I went with Associated. My friends nephew bought a LST yesterday, and he is taking it to my friends today. If he does, I'll get to check it out. I've never seen one yet. It sounds impressive though with it's radio, Mach .26, and duel steering servos. We'll see...

I seen the LST today, and it was broke. Before the guy went over to my friends house, he ran into a sprinkler head, and snapped both the upper and lower a-arms off the right front. So I didn't get to see it run. he seemed pretty impressed by my MGT though.

MGT or savage, can't go wrong with eather of them. and if yuu spent 900 [what your going too] it could beat any thing. get a MGT or savage, and slap a picco in that bay and your flyin. along with a few aluminum parts and new shocks, and your set.

i would say that LST would be good choice and MGT also whay you would need to change in MGT would be and engine i think, its very heavy truck and engine is strong but not very impressive, but with such budget you can swap it for sirio .27 or RB .28 and it would run much much better, also it would be ggod to change to some computer radio system

Wow, you guys are really that un-impressed by the MGTs engine? Considering it pushes the truck to about 35mph (with the FOC and the basic massage that Mr. Pond went over in RCCA). Considering this truck is about 11 pounds...I'd say that's pretty decent for a sport engine. I've got just a bit over 1 gallon through mine now and it runs like a champ. I've got it tuned really nice now and it runs REALLY reliably. My only problem is that it tends to die sometimes when refueling. I loose all the back pressure in the tank when I open it, then it takes meh forever to get the body pins back on because I'm a moron, so sometimes it stalls out. Other than that...there's nothing at all wrong with it. Don't get me wrong, when this one dies the FR-27 is going in, but there's no reason to rush out and replace the engine
Also, it's SUPER durable. This thing takes a beating. It handles amazing due to it's wider suspension arms. The savage has the suspension travel advantage, but the MGT has both a longer and a wider wheel base which adds a lot of the stability that the savage lacks (Yes, I've seen both run, and worked at an LHS, so don't even try).

first of all, if you are going to be racing just let me tell you that the LST will smoke any other monster out there on the straight (except truggys). the mach .26 is a beast. i think i would probably get a revo, then plop a sirio .18 in it and get some good wheels, tires, body, and use the long travel deals.

for me im not un-impressed by its engine but as you said it weights 11 pounds, decent engine and decent power isnt enaugh, i dunno about others but ive driven terra crusher lately, top speed was very nice, but the way it accelerated beat me to it, i hammered the throttle and the truck hardly noticed it :D i mean for truck you need good torque
