Ok guys.. I need a lil help here. I'm in a dilema. This sunday i have to race. Wel i'm in the netherlands and the raining season already started, namely FALL  . I know the track will be wet and cold so i have 2 sets of tires.

the first which is mounted on the car is HPI radials:

V-Groove Super Radial Tire (Standard 26mm) (Pro Compound)

and the second is:

Belted Take-Off CTB slicks (24mm)

Im racing Spec class (19T)
I know this might be a no brainer, but i just dunoo which to pick. someone told me that the slicks would stick no matter what.

Help guys!

i dont know jack about rc cars: But what compound are the slicks and grooves? if it where me and ignoring the compound, I would fit the groove tread if it was totally belting it down with rain,or if it where dry then i would go with the slick.

Again im a novice,so please take this with a hefty pinch of salt

i dont drive electric (nitro), or drive in the rain (like to keep it dry) but like you said with the no brainer part im thinking its the V-Groove that should be used.

Maybe "someone" was talking about slicks to sticking to everything in dry conditions?

Also if you get to practise before the race you could try slicks then try the v's and see what works best. Then update us cause im curius what works better.

Good luck in the race!

I will leave the V-groove on then. there is an hour for practice before the race. i will keep you guys informed... i guess it's trail and error.

Don't know in the RC world, but I can tell you from being a race fan in the real world, slicks are for dry conditions and grooves are for wet. Anytime during a race it starts raining, you see the drivers diving into the pits to change tires to grooves. The groove helps to move the water away from the tire and give you better traction. Slicks in the rain will cause loss of traction and hydroplaning. But I agree with the posts above, try 'em both out in practice and see which one is better. If it's really wet, I'd put my money on the grooves. If it's just semi-wet, slicks might be okay.

Right that's the way it is in the full sized world...but in the RC world things can work differently. We've raced F1's in the rain with slicks and actually get better grip then when it's dry so long as you have the right compound of tire. If they were the same compound in both slick and treaded then I'd say the treaded would probably be better in the wet (given the same compound). But since they are different compounds you'll just have to try them both out and see which works best.

take both. The track could be dry. the radials should be used if water is visible.
