I had a little yellow radioshack truck, It was 4x4, and man was that thing sweet. It broke after about 3 years, so I bought my friends blue version, and I tore the parts out and fixed it (with the help of my dad) I would take that thing out in the winter, into puddles (up to the batteries) I still have that thing to this day! it is still going strong, but boy was it slow. I have also had other r/c but nothing like that one!

When u say Hi-Tech dont you mean like Losi, AE, HPI, Tamiya, Kyosho etc? Me oh my, i have had lots, i actually have ruined 2 radio shack cars on the first day i had them, i ruined a weird truck and a street sprinter from running it in snow. The street sprinter was replaced with a wee bit of arguing and i still have that replacement today. However, a few mods have been made, ex. posi rear traction (screw in the diff), chassis lightening, others. My first real introduction into real r/c was about 4 years ago. I had never been to the LHS so i decided to go in one day and check it out. Through months of drooling and ruination of old, free issues of R/CCA (compliments of HS owner/runner) i had finally persuaded my parents to let me get a car. I bought my first car. An AE RC10T sport. However, i only had the car. I waited for around 3 months to save my money (like 4.50 per week for allowance) i saved enough to purchase a JR Python and Dynamite Mega Charger/battery combo. Then the fricken LHS owner conned us into a Dynamite Power Pulse reversing ESC. Thankfully i still have the charger/battery and ESC. I have a Futaba and a Hitec Lynx FM now. I traded the 10T strait up for a Stampede. I saw the August 98 issue of RCCA and had to have one of these RS4 Rallies so i saved my money and got one. Then i sold my stampede to buy my 1/8th Ofna. I currently only have the Ofna and the rally but am looking at the new Tamiya XB rtr's when they come out. That is my story...

I never had one car that got me into R/C, my older brother let me look at his R/C car action magazines when I was little.

Hello all i am wondering what rc cars got you started in (high tech) rc. I think my first was a Radio Shack Yellow Buggy in 1989 or so. I am 14 now and own a Stampede and a Tl01 my website is http://www.geocities.com/r_c_nick/Nicks_R_C.html and I love my trucks!!! I remember I have owned maybe 25 rcs in 14 years. Any photos are welcome!!!!! thanx Nick http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/cool.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/redface.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

My first R/C I recieved on my 3rd birthday, it was a blue ford F series radio shack monster truck, my borhter had a blue one (sounds the same as sporttruck, maybe we are long lost brothers?1?!?!?!?) Then I moved onto a Tyco Fast Traxx, which I still maintain is one of the best r/c cars ever, for fun fun fun. I drove it into the ground, 3 gearboxes, two bodyshells, four sets of new motors, countless shocks, and probably 15+ sets of tracks and 6 batteries were all worn out on my trusty old Fast Traxx. Got a scorcher but it never quite cut it with the FT... Now my FT and my Radio shack monster truck are making a comback, in the form of a tracked highrider monster truck! currently rebuilding the fast traxx chassis and making a new, slightly longer middle section to fit the new body. Should be awesome, although the standard Fast Traxx motors are a bit weak.
Now I am planning to buy either a Sintech 1/8th IMpreza or the awesome T-Maxx, any opinions?

K-Mart got me started. Not sure what the truck was, I think I took it apart. HaHa!
And tech9racing, GET A T-MAXX!! They are awsome! The only problem is that the engine run's VERY hot. So if you get one, get a different engine.

My first car was a Marui Hunter Buggy. I don't even think that Marui is still in business anymore. My next car was the Kyosho Ultima. I left the hobby for a number of years and just purchased a RC10B3. The B3 is a pretty good upgrade from those older models.

I got into it from my roommate at college... he told all about it... then i started investigating what the real story was and was VERY impressed with how intricate this stuff is... the level of engineering is amazing as is the adjustability of the newer cars... the tech side is what rubbed me right...

I got started from a friend who had a Wild willy about 14 years ago. I got a Kyosho "Rocky" for my first car and he picked up a 'just came out' Optima. We had a great time, but there was nowhere to race and not very many people were into it. I'm back w/nitro this time. I came back for the challenge, I love competition, and it's a much more healthy hobby than drinking beer all the time. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I got started just last year with A-Team RC10T3 for my birthday and ever since then the hobby for me has took off. I also have a RC10B3, those are my first two "high-tech" cars. Oh yeah and I had a Shcumacher Cougar 2000 that was used and lasted about a week. Those are hard to find parts for!!!

My first R/C was the Marui Ninja. This car was awesome till I burnt up the resistor and then traded it away for a Tamiya Frog. This was back in 1984. I still have the Frog, but wish I had the Ninja instead. If anyone out there comes across one, drop me a line and an asking price.
Thanks,
Jason
