Hi
I would like to start out with RC cars and have decided to go with electric rather than nitro to start off with.
Can anyone give me some advice on a decent car to start off with that won't break the bank.
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Brett

RTR or kit? On or off road? Size? There are many options ;)

Are you going to race or bash? If you are going to race have you visited some local tracks to see what they are raccing? Knowing the local hobby stores and what parts they carry might also be something to consider.
If you can narrow it down I am sure you will get a lot of opinions.

Hopefully you'll get a lot of facts too! :)
Welcome to the hobby, I know you haven't specified what exactly you want but for off-road trucks I'll mention the Traxxas Stampede, very fun, durable, and won't break the bank either.

Hi
I am interested in on road as there are not many off road tracks in Melbourne Australia.
I would also be looking at a kit as building it is a good way of getting to know your car.
Regarding size, is there a norm when it comes to electric onroads?
Thanks

I think I've seen the majority of on road cars being 1/10. Though there are 1/8 as well. I would think that the TC3 by losi is a good on road car. They offer a graphite version, but thats a bit pricey. I'm not sure if that comes in kit form though. Hope this helps!;)

Some other opitions are:
RC10 TC3 for about $170 its four wheel drive which is pretty nice
I'm sorry the losi I was talking about was the XXXS not the TC3 sorry about that confusion.:)
I've heard many good reports on the XXXS its about $269 for the graphite version.

For someone starting out, get the bare bones. This meaning, it's totally unnecessary to buy the no compromise "factory" kits. What's important is to have fun and learn!
Get a RTR and when you feel daring enough, break it down. They come with everything needed except batteries and a charger usually which makes buying it much easier.
Here in the states, the Team Associated TC3 and Losi XXX-S are the favorites when it comes to RTR's. They are usually a better buy from a performance standpoint in that they are race ready without the bucks to back it up.
Welcome and enjoy :p

Uh just a minor correction but the Tc3 is made by Associated and Losi makes the XXX-S.A graphite version is available for both Factory Team for the TC3 and Graphite Plus XXX-S. The tc3 and the xxx-s are both good cars, as a Losi Fan i like the xxx-s.
