use any car you can find but one that is not very light or it will take off just throw in cheap stuff into the car for your first run then it the car doesnt explode, take off, get run over, then invest into it,what im gonna do is take out me esc and motor and see if that works

where did you see pics of the roket car i got about a dozen C class roket engines that i have no use for, and i also have an old kyosho tourer that i have no use for eitherso put 2+2 together and... i dont have any idea on how to mount the engine im gonna cut the rear off my rocket and mount that since it is designed to hold the engine, but i want the rear end to be above my car's body so it doesnt melt it, i might weld coathanger wire, or music wire together to mount everything.

I forgot where is saw the pics at, sorry. i wish i could find it again myself....
anyway for a mount i was thinking of taking some pvp pipe, bolt it to the chassis and glue a cap at the end. i dont know if it will work but i thought i might try it if i ever get to do this. all i need is a crapy car and maybe this will start to workout. i will be gone a few days so someone keep this up on the board please. talk to ya later!

You might be referring to my site to see pictures of a rocket car that will be in your budget. The address is:

I also have a quicktime movie of it in action so you can get an idea of how fast they move.

Another site with more sophisticated rocket cars is: http://mcneely.net/nrca/

As far as weight, I found that a lighter rocket car performs better. More weight will just slow the car down and it won't look as impressive. As long as you point the rocket parallel to the road, you shouldn't worry too much about having it liftoff. Controlling it is another issue though. It can be a challenge to control these things especially since you have no control over the thrust (throttle) throughtout its burn time of around 3 seconds. All you can do is steer the heck out of it. It feels like steering a Patriot missle. And that why I would recommend to make it as cheap as possible. Crashes are not uncommon.
