Any Losi experts in the house?

If so, I've got a question for you. My brother's got an LXT with a wasted top shaft and spur gear. It's got the old LRM transmission which is hard to find parts for now. My question is, can he buy a newer Losi tranny (eg, XX, XXX), change it over to the retrofit tranny case, and then mount it onto his LXT?

XX tranny parts will work. Not sure about XXX. Do you have the retrofit tranny case ?
Those may be hard to find as well.

If you bomb out looking for parts, I can sell you a complete XX tranny (2.61, the truck gear ratio) in the retro fit case. It is definately not new, but works just fine.
