Here's an update on the prototype TC
that Team Losi calls "XTC"
"its dual deck, Trinity type graphite (doesn't look woven graphite like, just pure black). From the bottom, it looks exactly like the Yokomo car, where the batteries and motor are located, except for the arms and screw positions of course. The layshaft is in the same general position as on the yokomo car, except the spur gear is much larger and it only has one belt pulley. That's right, the rumors were true, it is a single belt car.

The belt winds around huge diff pulleys front and rearr, the wraps over the layshaft pulley and around some rollers that keep it on the layshaft pulley (to get the most teeth on it), then continues to the diffs. Funky design, not sure if it's just gimmicky or if it's "really" to keep the rotating mass of the chassis in the exact center of the car.

aluminum bulkheads, with pivot-ball suspension front and rear. It looks like the same upper arms front and rear, and the same lower arms front and rear. the upper arms are like the first Tech car from Japan, except the adjustment screws to change the camber link position (move the inner arm mounts up and down) are easier to get to. Spacers can go between the bulkhead and the arm to change the height of the pivot location, and the upper arms can also be moved up and down (with the spacers) to change the roll center location. The upper arms can also be made longer by mounting holes that go further in, and just lengthening the camber rods.

Steering is bellcrank type. Batteries all on one side, motor on the left in the back. Then ESC, RX/transponder, and servo. Upper deck is one piece from front to rear bulkheads, four screws and it's off (six if you have the optional center aluminum stiffening bulkhead), plus two or four more screws for the standard 64 pitch spur gear. So no more 45-minute, 19 screw spur gear changes. Wheels are standard 12mm hexes (what the rest of the R/C TC world uses) and apparently the 12mm hexes are adapters that fit over the old SW hubs, so you can use that load of SW wheels that have been collecting dust.

It's way adjustable (even has rear toe-in turnbuckles like Schumacher cars), but it will be easy for people new to the car to dial themselves out. Looks durable so far, but the arms are machined nylon, so they are bulletproof.

the production car will have molded arms I'm sure. The final chassis could be a tub but it can go either way, the car will work either with graphite sheets (easier to untweak from hits, cheaper to manufacture) or tub (more expensive to mold, easier to get tweaked, but Losi's been doing tubs for a long time). Easy to make a conversion to gas with a dual deck car, just make the bottom chassis aluminum and toss in 3 belts to go around the radio equipment and engine. About time they make an entry to nitro TC."

(Note: "TheBoss" got this same message from another site, and posted it on the bullettin board at http://rcvehicles.about.com .I then thought that you all should know about it, so i posted it up here. no hard feelings to the man who wrote the origional, but i hope its legal...Hey, I PUT QUOTES AROUND IT!)
