I am fairly new to RC, and I just got the LRP Pulsar Comp charger. What are the best settings for charging? I am thinking 6 volts for charging. What about the peak setting? I currently run stick packs but soon will be getting better side by side batts. Also, is the discharge feature good? I read about people using smart trays for discharging. Is this unit as good as that, how should I set it up for discharging?

i charge at 5.5 amps with a 30mv peak setting. For the novak smart tray, it discharges each cell individually which makes it charge better. The pulsar discharges the pack to a certain voltage instead, which leaves the individual cells at different votages. The pulsar is also known to overheat while discharging. I would suggest buying a separate equalizing tray.

With stick packs and club racing I would charge at 4 amps. If you buy some matched GP3300's you can charge them at 5 amps if you wish. I use the 10mv setting.

If you opt for expensive matched packs, be sure to pick up a 20 to 30 amp discharger and an equalizing tray. Integy offers the Reactor 20 and the Reactor 30, which will discharge your packs down to 5.4v, then they offer a basic equalizing tray so you can equalize the packs afterwards.
