I picked up my Hammer from my LHS today, its blue, and looks GREAT.

Havent started her up yet , I got it around 8PM today(The 18th). I had to do some other stuff today so i couldnt run the hammer and it was already late by the time I got it.

One question is, the manual says you should start at 2 1/2 turns out and the video says 2... Can you really break the engine in at these settings? My other engines in my trucks usually start off at about 3 turns out and lean out after a tank or two, but I dont know what the difference is between this engine and what i've run (Traxxas Pro 15, TRX 2.5, OS CVRX .12, Ofna Hyper 21 Turbo, Mach 15, etc), but that seems a bit lean for break in. Is this what you all used?

Also, how choppy can the water I run it in be?

Overall I like this boat, the hull seems a bit thin...but i guess that wont really matter unless i hit something, heh.

Couple things bothered me though, There's a screw breaking through my radio box..., Got a pic of it: http://www.radiocontrolzone.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=47161&stc=1

Will that be any problem? Also, my radio box isnt really sealed tight. I have the clip on the lowest possible hole i can get it to go on(as in, my radio box is shut tight), but theback of the cover pops up a bit when the rudder turns fully. http://pic16.picturetrail.com/VOL697/2523480/5006160/63925684.jpg
I'm afraid that when I flip that will alow water in ...I think the rudder servo rod is hitting the bottom of the on/off switch and popping up the lid a little. How can i prevent this?

Last question..Should I run an air filter? I might run it topless for break in and stuff since i dont want to do that air scoop mod immediately.

Thanks, and sorry for all those questions. :D

Oh yeah and...WOOD?!? Wont the engine vibrations do anything to the wood mounts?

the air filter is completely up to you. some folks say to use 'em, others say not too. personaly, i don't use one. most boats have wooden rails for the engine to mount to. and yes, the hull is thin, but it's fairly strong. i've knocked a couple of bouys with no damage to the boat at all.

Congrats On Your New Purchase! :d Alot Of Questions, So This May Be A Bit Long.
(1)break- I Know The Video And Manual Differ. Just Put It At About 2.5 Turns Open.-start There. Giving About 1/8 Turn Each Tank. Till Leaned Out.
(2) Water Chop- Thats Where The Hammer Has The Edge On The Miss Bud. Choppy Water Ok, But Remember The Size Of The Boat And Use Your Best Judgement.
(3) Screw Breaking Through- Coud Not See Pic. bad Link!!! Without Visual, Just See What You Can Do About It.
(4)radio Box- I Think That There All That Way From Factory. First Check Your Batt Wires, May Be Hitting Servo Arm. Kinda See That Wires Are Out Of The Way. For The Sealing, Lhs Should Have Some Sealing Tape.(about 3.00) Works Great!!! ( I Myself Got Rid Of The Top And Manufactured My Own Out Of Alluminum, Weighs Less And Tight)
(4) Air Filter- what Boat Doc Said... I Myself Don't Use One Either.

wow!!!! :d I Think Thats It.............have Fun And Take It Easy On First Start, Mine Took quite A Few Pulls To Get Started First Time. After That Was No Problem From Then Out. :d

Mine came by mail last week.

To keep mine idlin' I had to lean out the low speed needle a little. It wouldn't idle without the glow igniter.

The first thing I would do before yours meets the water is go over it thoroughly, believe me I found a few before it was too late! I found 3 screws in the hull. I didn't know where they went at first, then I noticed the pull start was loose. The header was loose also. It would fill the hull with smoke and run the engine too rich. So i decided to dismantle it and found only 1 screw holding the pull start in place, and it was loose. water kept getting in my radio box and I think it ruined the receiver. Steering was alright, but the throttle was mostly sluggish and unresponsive. Not the engine, but the servo. I'm fixing to change out the receiver.

When I put it back together I put the rudder on backwards  . Boy is that a trip at full speed if you can get it to full speed. It Zig-Zags uncontrollably.

This is a fun little boat though. Well worth the $200. :D

Had to dry dock mine yesterday  until I was able to go to the LHS (today). When I would start it I would hear a deep throaty sound, louder than normal. I also noticed exhaust smoke inside the hull when I removed the top. It also would lose power and seem to run rich after about 2 min. It would run alot better with the top off. I decided to disassemble it again and found the exhaust coupler was split down the middle on the underside where I couldn't see it. :(
Well gotta go back to the lake. :D

This boat is a blast well worth $200.
