Hi

i am looking for some Liquid Mask which is proving hard to find in the UK for me.
i was looking for a make that was stated in this aritcle
http://www.rctech.net/articles/painting_hauntedmyst1.shtml#sub18
basicly the Bob Dively or Hobbico Master Mask as they are ment to be the best.

is any one from the UK here and know of a good alternative make which is easy to get here?

i have found this one on my search
Humbrol Maskol Liquid Masking Tapehttp://www.decoratingdirect.co.uk/viewprod/h/HUMLMT/
which says
Humbrol Maskol liquid masking tape is great for masking off intricate areas requiring protection during painting, particularly where it is not possible to use masking tape effectively (i.e. small and intricate areas, plaster reliefs etc).

Available in 28ml bottles.

thx for the help.

That might work OK, but it seems a little pricey.

Any local hobby store that can get items through Great Planes/Tower Hobbies should be able to order at least the Great Planes masking. At worst you could order it through Tower's website.

Parma also makes liquid mask, which is also a little expensive, but if you plan properly, and mix in some masking tape where possible, you can get several bodies out of it (I did the roof and trim of a Mini Cooper and the rear fenders of a 2001 Focus WRC and still have about 1/ of the bottle left).

Yer, and it comes in the tiniest of bottles, half of which you cant get at because its so thick and the neck is so tiny.

Dont bother with Humbrol's, forget Parma's, do yourself a favour and grab a bottle of Bob Dively's it really is the dogs dangly bits. I've got about 1/4 of a 32oz bottle left, it'll last you a long time.
Sadly i dont know of anywhere in the UK selling this stuff, it may be that you'll need to order from somewhere like Tower Hobbies, which would probably add £10 to the order :(
Considering the exchange rate, price of the liquid mask, and the quality of it, its well worth a try compared to the Parma stuff!

The humbrol mask is just purple copydex glue, even smells the same. Don't use it. i tried it and it was rubbbish. It paints on great although it makes a mess of your brush, but it won't cut cleanly if you need to trim it, it just tears. And peeling it off is quite messy.

If you really want to be cheap you can always just throw layers of elmers glue on your shell and just be certain to put a couple of coats and allow it to dry slowly.
