In RC related stuff. I have one car as of now that I mostly use and have racked up over $1050. For me that's alot. I can't imagine if I had another project car or worse, a plane. Geeeze!

In the past 6 months I have bought a used tmaxx for $300 and sunk another $500 into it, built a TC3 FT for around $700, an RS4 MT for $400, a Losi XXX-T for $400, an RC10 GT for $650 and I have $600 into my MBX R2 so far. Plus a radio, charger, batteries,... etc.

TOO MUCH!!! I hope my wife doesn't read this!!!!

Let's see, $130 for a Super Champ body, $40 for an RC10T, $45 for an RC10 World's Car, $110 on ESCs, $70 on batteries, $80 on motors, $35 for a body and paint, about $60 on tires and rims, $70 for a radio, and about $25 on miscellaneous items. So about $665 total. After being out this hobby for 5-6 years, I'd forgotten how much money you could spend so quickly.

For my T-Maxx I have not had to sink one penny in it. I just purchase batteries and gas.

Hmm, about $2000... :)

Getting back into R/C after years of ignoring it.

Bought a Ko Propo EX1 Mars, an Xpress Pro '98, Losi XXCR & XXTCR graphite plus, Tekin BC-67, lots of batteries, Airtronics M8, (most of this stuff came in one big package deal, used of course). Restored my old 1984 RC10 to running condition. Trying to get my RC10L2O up to speed. Lots of little parts here and there. Plus a ton of other stuff I forgot to mention.

All I can say is eBay rocks!! If you're patience and don't mind looking you can find some killer deals out there. :)

I am also returning after being away since 1985. Since April of this year I have spent over 3k. I have bought 4 cars and tons of accessories.

Lol, I've just become familiar with the hobby a couple of months ago and almost have all my stuff so I can build my kit. Here's what I've bought so far:

-HPI Racer 2 Kit NEW $180
-OS .12 CV-RX Engine $110
-Futaba Magnum Sport $32
-Pro Line V-Rage tires $20
-HPI X-Pattern tires $23
-CVEC Exhaust pipe $32
-Mugen Header(manifold)$10
-Miscellaneous things (ie. fuel, fuel bottle, glow plug etc.)$35
-Glow Plug Igniter $15

As Hairball said, ebay does rock! As you can see I got some killer deals for my stuff, all it takes is patience and searching. All my stuff is new except for the futaba radio which is in excellent condition and the os which was only broken in. That's a still lot of money but I wasn't gonna bother saving up for a car or anything anyways as I'll be leaving for University after my last year of high school.

I've only spent about 100 dollars in RC stuff over the past 6 months. The reason is because I got totally stocked, like a hobby shop about 8 months ago. :D

Uhg...........

It makes me cringe to think about it. Let me put ot this way:

The money I have spent on r/c since getting back into it last February, would have PAID for my 383 stroker and Vortec blower for my Firebird!

let's see i've sold the hpi rs4 mts i had for 400 so that helped out my hip national bank. well in the last 2 months i've bought 700 bucks worth of tmaxx stuff, bought a gs storm buggy rtr, an associated rc10gt from someone on here, bought a hpi rs4 nitro sedan. and looking forward to buying cvd's for the car. also bought cooling head, mip exhaust, bumper, 2 extra JR XR3 recievers(59.00 each), rc10gt body, two pull starts repaired, and more other goodies. all i can say is that people like us have issues that won't probably be addressed as long as we live. don't you wish that for how long it takes to make it it would last as long :D ?

Guys...did I hit the good luck?? Rather my wife did. We went to a casino yesterday and she won $2000. On the way home she handed me $500 and said, "Have a nice time at the hobby shop, honey". How about that? I just got back and had a ball buying all the little (and some big) stuff you never seem to have enough of. :D :D :D

And the answer is....as soon as you figure out where my pops lives and break in and take one. He has like 12 but only flies 2. My brother and I keep telling him when he dies, he'll probably have twice as many, so we'll have a 21 plane crash salute at his funeral. He doesn't think its funny.

If $13,593 went to just one shop, you probably just paid someones wages for the year! Good for you helping the hobby stay alive! I've only spent about $20 on magazines - just starting out and haven't bought a car/truck/buggy yet.

I don't know an exact figure, but it's a stupendous amount of money. Several thousand dollars on my cars alone. If you add in my RC airplanes (about 20 of them), we are talking an absolutely rediculous amount of money that I don't even want to think about. But in the past 6 months, I've probably spend a couple grand mainly on cars. Airplanes are WAY cheaper than cars as long as you don't crash em. Next I want a Factory Team TC3 FT B3, and I also want a Meugen 1/8 scale buggy. But I have never regretted spending the money. Well, sometimes I regret getting that infernal T-Maxx, but when it runs right, I feel better about it and have a blast with it. I think that the money I spend on my RC cars and planes is good for my mental health. It keeps me from going nuts and I absolutely love to do it. My other hobbies are mountain biking and photography both of which can be expensive as well. Also, being on an Air Force salary, this can all get pretty costly. Fortunately, I don't have any car payment and I'm not in any debt and I plan to keep it that way so I can keep up with my RC addiction. My wife works too so that helps. She's usually pretty understanding of my hobbies. Matt

Not sure, but a ____load. Wasn't doing to bad until I got the Mugen XR w/Novarossi and a pile of spare parts, etc. and new Futaba PJS - PCM. Also have an XXX-NT with HPI/NR.

Bottom line is, I love the heck out of it and as long as I can do it who cares!! :)

BTW, I raced gokarts for about three years - it's a WHOLE LOT CHEAPER THAN THAT!!
