I have been out of racing for 11 years or more and want to get back in with my shirt still on. Does someone know of some setting for the new Ni-MH cells for Victor Hi-IQ charger. And please do not laugh.

You need the newer version software for adjusting the peak voltage. Just do a search on google for Victor IQ there is a guy that has the upgrade kit for them. :)

If you have the original IQ you can charge a 6 cell NiMH pack by telling the IQ that you're charging 1 or 2 nicad cells. The IQ alters the delta peak drop voltage based on the number of cells you tell it you're charging. So if you tell it 1 or 2 cells the delta peak will be in the proper range for a 6 cell NiMh pack. The IQ will still charge with the amp rate you tell it - all the number of cells entry does is determine max charge rate and delta peak.
If you would prefer to do a software upgrade PM me, I can likely help.

I don't know about Victor Hi IQ charger, but my Victor Super IQ is fine charging GP 3300 ni-mh batteries. Victor Super IQ may report "can't reach peak" on some battery packs, but usually it will charge all the way over 3000mAH range.

Here is my setup:

5 amp charge
0.05V Delta Peak ( you try 0.03V if you worry over charging ).
Linear charge ( NO Lin Flex or D Flex ).

asw7576,

With a Super IQ or newer you can select the drop(delta peak)voltage, with the original IQ you are not able to. If you have the IQ3 or IQ3000 software it will fix the can't reach peak issue.(which was a safety feature originally, it just needed the max milliamp count extended as battery capacity keeps increasing)

thanks Steve.... are you the legendary person that know so much about Victor Engineering ?? If you can help, do you know how to upgrade VE Super IQ software? I think mine is still the original version with Lin Flex and D Flex.

I've seen a few sites with information on the IQ, but none of those are mine. I've fixed many IQs and can do the upgrades. If you want more info feel free to PM me.
