Does anyone here have a pre-race ritual,or do something to relax before a race? I know it is nerve racking before the races, and you can start to sweat, shake, etc. Personally,I just sit back, close my eyes and relax, blocking everything out, maybe listening to the radio. This usually helps.

The night before I race, I pray that it's a good day and stuff. Since where I go is right across the street from the Mississippi, I go sit on the levee, and listen to the waves crash.

LOL RC, since your down in NO, I imagine you've seen some of the Chicago dumped MOB bodies float past you.

Racing,
I use an old theatre trick I learned from my days in improv. Don't try to get rid of the butterflies in your head or tummy, just mentally try to get them to fly in formation. They provide the energy/adrenaline you need to psych yourself to do well.

Since I race mainly gas truck I listen to Fuel by Metallica on the way there, then once I am there and get all setup I walk the track, then go to all the fast guys and talk to them until the first heat, then sit down in my chair and visualize my lines.

Stoop down, pick up a little dirt, rub it in my hands, and smell it (ala Gladiator).

Nah, I don't race (yet). But wouldn't that be cool?

Lol at Hauntedmyst. Nah man, those bodies dumped off at the hot-dog factories, not the Mississippi...ewww.

Watch out Grizz, you don't want to get so relaxed that you don't make it to the bathroom in time! :p :D

I basically do what Pnp and Grizzbob do when I get to the water.

I never start my nitro truck untill someone elso does. I've run out of gas because the other people were late to the line, see if I'll ever do that again.

Sorry, cant think of anything funny :(

Walk the track

Always start my car last (so if it doesnt start i get POed and they start the race w/o me)

I like being last up on the drivers stand.

And I like being furthest from the stairs too, so every time my car stalls i run into a bunch of people when i go get it.

I don't usually get nervous. I just do whatever, including getting my cars ready, up until my race is gonna start. Then I go up, take a couple warm up laps and I'm good to go. I never get worked up over things. I'm pretty much loose all the time. Sometimes I watch my friends race in the B-mains ;) if I have time, but I don't have any sort of routine after my cars are ready to go.

Get in my Camaro & go for a drive before a big main. Crank up some music & relax, and get away from the track. I come back to the track after a 10 minutes feeling ready to go! Of course, a Dr. Pepper or 4 helps too ;)

I get my crap ready, talk to other people, and just pass time. I dont get nervous cause it isn't me out there flying around the track.

In motorcross.. I always pull up to the gate at the very last moment. I have my pit guy (friend) hold my bike, I walk infront of the gate and just start screaming stupid **** . I get on my bike and im ready to go. And right before the gate drops, I start screaming and hitting my helmet, people are so ****** up and looking at me, the people next to me on the gate normally get a horrible start, and I pull a hole shot. messes with peoples heads, I love it.

I don't ever get nervous before a race. I just look over my cars real good, and look for anything that might come apart and keep me from racing. I locktite EVERYTHING. I'm pretty meticulous. Other than that, I get kind of excited when the guy says "Less than five". I kind of hang back at the start and let all of the guys that like to take off WOT get in a big pile up and I blast around them. Then I just concentrate on holding my lines and trying not to flip over or get hung up on anything or anybody else. I'm never really there to win. I've only taken first place one time and that was just because I took my time and kept my truck running and everybody else had mechanical problems and missed a lap or two. I just go to have fun and if I win, it's an added bonus! I just try to make sure my trucks and cars are reliable before I race. Matt

nitro is nothing, my stepdad's friend races go-karts, well these things run off of 100% methanol. Methanol burns invisible though his friend was smoking and his foot set on fire, but he couldnt see it my stepdad said it scared thehell out of him but the guy has like 2nd degree burns he had to go to the hospital

what i usually do is i go about 2 hours before the racing starts and i walk the track about 20 laps and pick out about 3 or 4 different lines that look fast. then i practice and work on the lines that i discovered and figure which is faster. check my car out about 10 times over. make sure everything is tight but not to tight. check my place in between my spur and pinion because i once had to much play on my spur and at the start ripped it to shreds. what i also do is try to get a good start one the first qualifying round cuz since i do so much preparation i can stay ahead.

As I posted about two weeks ago, "Never start your car first," or something like that.

Mine would be in my pit, yelling "WAIT, MY BATTERY IS NOT PEEEAAAAAKED!" then, I would adjust the amp rate to 7 amp charge, when it is done, stick one body clip in, grab my car, and run for the driver's stand, in one quick motion, throw my car on the track, turn on radio, and pull up the antenna, only the get on the driver's stand, and in the lineup only to hear 'BEEEEEEEP'

And I'm OFF! :)

haa..haa..ha.a..
I like this thread :D :D
I don't race like you guys do, but I do race with my neighbor kids running their Nitro/Gas Scooter! and they looveee racing against me, especially my OFNA Ultra GTLX. Here's what I do (usually at around 6-7 pm), I pull out my 90 (tricked out, just like one of my rc) Ford Probe and turn on the stereo, it's an Alpine head, 4 MTX Sub, 6 satellites Polk speakers, 4 Kenwood amps, and let the TOWER of POWER "Diggin' on James Brown" calling all those Street Racer Punk with their gas scooter coming out for one on one against my OFNA!

Yessss...

  :D :D

I kiss the dog and Kick the wife, no wait I do that when I get home. ;)
Actually, I give everything a once over, check my receiver pack to make sure I have good voltage, check transmitter power, add fuel, hassle my racing buds, figure out who i'm gonna run into the boards, (j/k) walk the track looking for traction spots and slick spots, choose which tires i'm gonna run, then do some practice laps. :D
