When entering the numbers into the equation, do I enter them as is, or must I compensate for the variables. I explain:

Do I inflate the tire diameter a tad for tire balooning? Do I remove .3 volt (in max engine RPM estimation) for voltage drop under load? Do I write a lower number of max engine RPM for track load simulation?

"There's nothing like experience to upset a theory." -Barbara Johnson.

:D It might be helpful if you indicate what the end result of your calculation will reflect, but I post that quote in advance because whatever numbers you come up with will most likely be inaccurate due to the variable conditions you will experience at any given time. The ballooning of your tires, for example, are going to be proportionate to the RPM and flexibility of both the rubber and inserts, which will most likely vary based on temperature, which can change over the course of a run.

You may want to just buy a GPS, if you want to find your real accurate speed.

I already have a GPS and it's useless in this case.

It's because I am converting an HPI nitro MT 2 to electric and need to calculate the pinion before ordering it.

Why not just buy an assortment of pinions, instead of just guessing?

The range for module 1 pinion bored in 5mm is really narrow. So I need to be in the correct ball park.

I want to choose the motor in fonction of being in the middle of the pinion pack so I can correct the gearing in one direction or another for variable compensation as described above.

So, do I compensate in the formula or do I just write the raw numbers?
