OK - After sending back the first Hammer b/c of damage, I've now had the second one for about 2.5 weeks and have yet to get it in the water. I can start it (with the TigerDrive I installed) and get it to idle, but there is no RPM change when I open the carb. I have followed the directions to the letter, burned through two tanks and one glow plug trying to figure this out. I called Hobbico support and they told me to just send it in, but I thought I'd see if anyone here can help me out first. It will be unseasonably cool in Houston this weekend and I want to get this thing on the water!

is it starting up and idling, or screaming? this may sound like a dumb question...but is the carb actually opening? try inspecting the fuel system for leaks, or a blockage in the pressure line. is it possible that the tiger drive is causing drag and not allowing the engine to rev???

It might be that the carb is set so rich that it won't rev up.

I can get it to idle fine. I can also see the carb opening up, but no RPM change. If I push the throttle forward, the carb closes and the engine dies. I had the high speed needle open 2.5 to 3 turns from closed, per the break in instructions.

???

I've already sent it in and requested a new engine. That's on backorder and won't be in until late September. What I'd really like is a refund on the Hobbico engine and then drop a TRX 2.5 in there (would that work?).

Kinda frustrating for my first boat purchase but I'm still excited to get it on the water (maybe by October!?!).

i dont know about the trx2.5 i has a slide carb.... but you could get another engine.... sounds like a good idea if they give you a refund..... good luck

OK, back to my previous posting above. As for the break-in instructions, they have the carb set rich from the factory so that you have more oil for break-in. The other thing is that they don't know where the boa is going, weather, altitude and other factors will determine how rich or lean the carb has to be. When properly set, you should hear just a slight lag when revving the motor up. Take the high speed in a little at a time until it does this.
