My friends been lookin to get a rc car. He and his dad finally decided to get a kyosho ep rally. When i heard this i new he would get bored, quick, when i asked him about his choice, he said that he only wanted a car that could drive around the street, and not break on the bumps, when i heard this, i was a little mad cause i new he would wine about not getting a off road. I was then totally blown away by his next idea, he wants to put longer arms on, NQ shocks on em, And MP wheels, i was really laughing when i heard this, being his 1st car, and coming in with not a lot of money, i tried to tell him that hes better off getting some kind of truck, cause hes gonna end up reckin the rally. Is there anything i can say to make him change his mind, and im posting this cause i dont want to listen to him come over and ask for hel pwith this, i broke this. Please help.

You sound like a cool person. I would just tell him straight up about how you feel. If you are looking for advice on how to, "Make friends and influence people" I can't help, except to suggest that you be straight with him.
Yes, tricky to word ... hmmm... how about, "I really suggest you get a car designed for the dirt. One that is durable and won't require you going out of your way to get help from me" :p

Or, "I have been doing this for quite a while. I have seen others attempt what you want to do. They always end up frustrated. Being your friend, I don't want to see you all frustrated. Please take my advice. If you DO decide to get a truck I will help you all I can" Closer ? Hehehe, this is fun.

Anyone else ?

or you could tell him that if he were to buy a truck he could drive it on the road and not have to worry about the bumps and if he wanted he could take it off road for some real fun ;)

How about the HPI RS4 Rally? As long as you keep away from huge rocks and real loose stuff, that car kicks butt. Or like these guys suggested a truck or buggy can be used on the street and bumpy terrain too. Show him a RCCA mag and let him know his options. He'll be happy for the help I'm sure.
