If I remember correctly and I think I do, in one of my old Associated Pictorial Catolog that showed a buggy with a sprint car body and wing on it.

I am planning on building a sprint car like you mention. I have built one before, but it wasn't strong enough. I will start building it around mid October. You can get bodies from Custom Works http://www.customworksrc.com
Also I know some people in Washington State that build and sell Nitro Sprint cars based on a RC10GT. http://www.performancerc.theshoppe.com

I have been working on my four link front suspension for my new Nitro Sprint car. I have put a couple of pictures on my web site of it, but here is one of the front end.

I was up at Performance RC in May and talked to Susie and her husband (the one that builds the cars). The car uses mostly Team Associated parts. I am not sure if the Custom Works wheels fit or not. I do believe that you can get AE wheels that fit the CW tires. Most of the drivers at the track that Performance RC supports are running Pro-line low profile foams for the GT.
I hope that helps. I did get to see the cars up close and talk with the builder, so if I can help any, let me know.

I have started building a second edition of my nitro sprint car. I almost have the suspension finished. I just need to buy a RC10GT rear bulkhead to mount the front shocks and panhard bar too. The tranny and rear shock mount are not installed yet, but sitting on the bench waiting to go in. I should be able to get the suspension finished this week. After that I will need to purchase a Custom Works Sprint car body and build a cage that fits it.

I cut up a front shock mount for a Mugen MTX-2 to mount the ends of the front 4-link

Hey charles, the pictures look great!where do you plan to race it?
I hate to bug you again but I was wondering if you could answer a few more questions I have about the performance hobbies sprint car. This may sound stupid but what is the difference between the nylon down tube and non down tube chassis,is he referring to the cage?I assume its a rubber coating but not sure. Also he said its a custom works cage on it and I know a cw cage is dyeable, how do you do that though? Thanks for any help you can give me cause I have talked to the guy who builds them but he acts like I should just come down and look at the car but I cant Im in chicago.

If you look at the Channel Lock car near the bottom of the photo album, that is the non downtube chassis. The cage is made out of 1/4" solid aluminum. Goto http://www.customworksrc.com That CW Enforcer is an example of having downtubes. The bars that go from the top of the cage to the front are called downtubes. Something like 99% of today's real sprint cars are downtube chassis. If I remember correctly, Performance's Nylon Downtube chassis IS CW's cage for the Enforcer! He didn't have any downtube cars in the shop when I was there in May. (I live in Virginia and can't just run down there) You can dye it using normal clothing dye, just follow the directions on the box. The one that I am building will use steel tubing and I am looking into the possibility of getting the equiptment to power coat it. (baked on finish for better protection and color).
