Okay, here's a question: Has anyone ever worn out a Johnson/Mabuchi 540 motor? I was digging through my R/C stuff and I realized that I have 2 Johnson and 1 Mabuchi 540 motor. All are completely new and unused and were replaced with more performance oriented motors. Since you can't replace the brushes or any other parts on these things, I was wondering if anyone had one that actually lived a productive life.

I ran a Traxxas stinger for about 5 months. I'm surprised it lasted that long because it was run in extreme heat where it blistered my brother finger and when I replaced it brush dust fell out of the can in clumps.

We still race Johnson/Mabuchi RS540 motors here in NZ.. Thats our stock class. What you guys in the USA call stock we call Pro Stock!!
I gear my RS540 at 78 Spur 40T pinion. At the moment though Im only using 72/35. Their life span is some what shortened using this gearing. OHH this is for Touring Car class.
