I was planning to purchase the TC3 racer kit sometime by the end of the year. Now there is no mention of it on associated's website. If you go the the parts list and search for the part numbers of the 4 racer kits, they are listed as discontinued.

Will this be replaced with a similar model? Also on Tower's website, both of the TC3 RTR's are listed as "In Stock Limited Quantities". A few times in the past when a item was listed as "In Stock Limited Quantities" the item was discontinued soon after. Could this be a hint that the TC4 is comming soon?

Reliable rumers at the shop say it should be out this fall, and coming from the person I heard it from, I think it's true.

Awesome, I wonder what they will do. I hope they make it with a graphite plate chassis. No matter what they do I am sure it will be sweet.

just because the racer is gone, doesnt mean the tc4 is coming. They still have the team and factory team out.

Eventually, there will be a TC4, I guess... :D
However, I agree with you. Since TC3 Racer kit is the lowest grade kit and does not make much money, they probably switch Racer kit as RTR only offering. Team and Factory Team kits can generate considerable money since their prices are still high enough.

....but if you read the first post you would know the RTR is going out of production as well. I figure its time for a TC4, the TC3 has only been around for what? 5 or 6 years now?

That doesn't really mean much, it simply may be that the RTR & Racer versions aren't selling well enough for them to justify continuing to make them, so they're focusing on the Team & FT versions. Honestly, there really isn't any point in anticipating a brand new car from them until it's on the shelves, & if you have already bought a TC3, DON'T WORRY, YOUR CAR WILL NOT BE COMPLETELY OBSOLETE. I really don't expect ANY new touring car will be as revolutionary as the TC3 has been, since then every new car has been just trying to catch up or make minor, evolutionary changes. Yes, there are a few things AE can do to improve the car, & they may well be doing it, but they'll deny it until the car's out, because they've learned their lessons from the TC3. When they first announced it, it was only in drivetrain prototype form, was really not that close to being ready for production, & it eneded up taking about 2 YEARS of development to finish it(while AE fans everywhere were freaking out over the hype & delays). It proved to them one very importan thing, it's useless to set such high expectations, when you really don't know when it'll be ready for sale, so since then they've gotten back to the old saying "It'll be ready when it's ready.", & have stopped feeding rumors until a real car was ready. And I think that's what we should do too, just be patient, & remember that just because a new car comes out, that DOESN'T mean we have to sell what we have now to be competitive. In truth, IF a completely new car comes from them, I'll likely wait a good 4-6 months after it does before I'll decide IF I'll get one for myself, just as I did with the TC3. It won't help you to get a car that NO ONE knows how to set up until it's been out long enough for some setups to materialize for it. So for the time being, I'd just RELAX & when AE is ready to unveil a new car, they will be SURE to let us know about it.....

Don't forget that Proline discontinued most of the bodies in the RTR kits. So if Proline doesn't make them... AE can't sell them. The RTR kits with the Honda accord body and the others have been discontinued for quite some time. But this is just my observation.

I would definitely wait a bit to see what bugs come out and are fixed when a TC4 is finally out. honestly I think correcting some durability issues and battery placement would be great to see. I am not sure though that AE would do a plate chassis. Seems they and Losi love to do molds. One of my hopes however is that with the growith the growth in the buggy class, we may see a 4wd buggy version of there new touring car.

I have too heard that is the "TC4" is well on it's way from a very reliable source.

If the rumor is true, AE is down sizing the TC3 so that when the new car comes, they won't have 2 electric touring cars in the market. If they pulled the plug on the entire TC3 lineup, for a period of time before the new car came out, AE would lose the electic touring kit business. Right before the new one comes out (if it does) they will most likely discontinue the FT and Team versions to make room for the new car. They want to keep people guessing also by removing pieces so they don't spill the beans by an obvious discontinuation of the TC3.

I can't wait to see what AE is cooking up!
