He did a nice job, looks like he went to the toy store and yanked out the dash from some car and used it for his concourse car, not bad.

JGTCracer21 - Still wondering if you plan on using the same car that you entered last summer this time around?

Nice point.

I believe it has to run to even compete.

Here is my all time favorite....2002 Chicago Concourse winner.

JGTCracer21, well good luck if you enter the same car this upcoming weekend. You know my thoughts, you never show the car that your going to use in an upcoming concours event. Keep it under wraps until the day of the event, that way you don't feed your competition with the knowledge they need to beat you.

You don't have to worry about me this time around, I'm just racing, I didn't have time to create anything new.

My buddy and I use to enter his car in stereo comps. We would keep everything closed up on the car and let the car run all day with the air on (judges love to get into a nice cool car and every sound would be crisp) but we would open it up and start cleaning stuff and people would start gathering around. We would close it back up and just walk away. We did this maybe 5-6 times during the day. By the end of the day we had about 150 people standing around the car while it was being judged. He won his class and then it was just show off time. Open every door, turn it up and start breaking stuff (he was sponsored - it was free) :D

Suggestion JGTC make a car cover for it....put the car cover on it and walk it out to the line-up set your car down and if possible just walk away! Let everybody go crazy wondering whats under the cover.

Is that what won?

yep that was the winner not the best work there in my opinion but it was a crowd favorite apperently

I hate to say but was it a sympathy win?

dyslexic
08-26-2004, 07:59 PM
In my opinion Hell Yes! but thats just me. I saw several more technical bodies there but hey they picked the "crowd favorite"

and for the record the second place winner used internal graphics (stickers) to achive the look he was going for. not that there is anything wrong with it just not what I expect to win in a concourse comp.

while I liked the look of the 3rd place car it was only there because it was the only one of it's type there and it was very simple but refreshingly straight forward and clean.

and yes my body was there. and I know full well it wasn't going to win before I entered it just wanted to put it out there.

Pix?

I didn't take any pics, but to be honest, I wasn't that impressed by the field. I'm not sure if I will do any more concourse cars. If more people get out and compete I would think about it, but to do one and not have any competition isn't really fun.

For a real fun concourse, there has to be atleast 10 outstanding cars. With 1-2 theres always a garuanteed mild reception from the judges. They're thinking they want to give "everyone" a chance and make it even more appealing for next year.

Anyway, there was only 2 USA challenges this year? I hope next year will have more...:(

Here is the winner for the NY HPI event.

I have to say, it's a nice paint job, but I can't see it winning over JGTC's car or any other car with engine or interior mods.

They should have two classes for Concourse. One strictly for paintjob, and one for all out detail/ originality/ scale theme.

that is 1/10 chassie i belive is an R40.

IMHO there were several other cars that had more intricate paintjobs that were very well executed as well as several with interiors.
