ok, so as my fist r/c boat i got a Prather 46" deep vee kit. construction has gone smoothly, but I'm a little confused about where the brass intake fitting for the Prather water pump kit should go. In the intructions, it says in the transom of the boat. Does this mean slightly in front of the transom, through the bottom of the hull, or through the transom plate with the running hardware? If through the transom plate, how high up should it go? Please help, i need this done asap!

do you have a link that shows a picture of the water intake brass tube, if it looks similar to the letter "J" then you epoxy it to the transom just to the side of the drive shaft or strut leaving only a small portion hanging below the bottom edge of the transom as near the center as you can get it. leave to much hanging and it will create drag and slow your boat down a lot, leave not enough hanging and the engine wont get cooled. they make another kind the you actually drill a hole through the hull near the transom and bolt it in or epoxy it in there this is the best kind as there is little or no drag created by the intake. ill look for pictures of the two different kinds and post links and you tell me which one it is that you have.

all it is is a straight brass tube about an inch long with one end filed to a 45 degree angle

the water intake tube pictured here you epoxy to the outside of the transom just to the right or left of the drive shaft or strut, leaving only the pointed part hanging below the bottom line of the transom. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDR41&P=7

Thanks for the input, I found the answer I was looking for in the water cooled header instructions. I'll try it the way they suggest here. You can see it pretty clearly in the attachment. :) Written instructions from Prather are next.

thats pretty sweet, thats like a combo between the two ways of installing a water intake tube.

that looks just like the whh setup, but they don't drill into the hull to place it. it is mounted at the outside of the transom near the drive just poking down past the bottom of the hull 45° facing forward.
here it is

Did you get a water pump with the boat or does it work by forward motion?
