I have run my Hammer a few times now and it runs great. I read a post a few months ago about running the cooling water exit to the pipe but can't seem to find it now. I would like to see some pics of the setup and some info on the advantages/disadvantages if any. thanks

I think the up-shot on all the water cooled nitro exhaust threads was no. There are too many problems with the water going back into the cylinder, changing the dynamics of the pipe and others. I have a Kyosho silincer set that has a cooling jacket on the headder and that is awesome. The pipe is lacking though. Any way, a water cooled header seems to be the best route.

that was my boat. if you look at page 5 of racing nitro/gas you'll find it under the thread titled "better pics of my hammer." this link may work:

i'm not using the stock pipe with that setup. the stock pipe is a P.O.S.!!!!!! the pipe that i'm using is from my miss bud. a mac's pipe would probably be better (if not cheaper...pro-boat want's $40 for that pipe  ). plus the design of the stock pipe will not really allow a wet-pipe set up. as far as what the wet pipe does...well, it keeps the pipe slightly cooler and it sounds really nice out on the water. i don't know if there was any real performance gain from it, i just did it out of curiosity. however, i've found plenty of ways to make a nitro hammer A LOT faster than stock...so feel free to ask!

I'd like to know some of the mods you did to make the boat faster.
Can you make a wet pipe from a stock pipe though?

I have an older quiet pipe style pipe for 2.5cc engines I got off ebay a while back. I have "rigged" it to have the water enter the stinger rather than the pipe or header and it "seems" to have the same effect. It is definitely quieter and it certainly helps with the plumbing but I don't see that it will help at all with pipe temps. I've done this also with car pipes with the same results.

I have heard that the Miss Bud pipe will really wake up the hammer's engine, but i dont want to spend the $40 that they want for it. I was wondering if this (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXZ557&P=0) Macs pipe would be good for it. Much better price and I have heard that Macs is a very good brand.

Yup that's the puppy. It comes long so you can tune it to your liking. There is at least 1" that can be choped off, and still leave room to be shortened more.

where would i do the cutting on this pipe? I have never tuned a pipe before.

You always cut a tuned pipe at the inlet end, which is NORMALLY the bigger end. Cutting the outlet end will make the tuned pipe worthless, as the reflecting properties of the pipe would be lost.

Great thanks! I will be sure to remember that if i decide to play around with the tuning.
