Tamiya has a new 4WD buggy coming out that should work. They also have a couple of 4WD, twin-motor trucks that are the same size as the RS4 MT.

Well I take it you are after a truck? as you are looking at the RS4 MT? 4WD aren't really that popular but they might be a few out there if you are lucky but none come to mind at the moment.

TC3. Sounds odd... but you can get a TC3 RTR and the Rally Conversion. Best thing to happen to off-road bashing. But heres what i can think of at the moment...

TC3 Rally
HPI Rally RS4
RS4 MT
E-Maxx
XXX-4
Tamiya Rally cars (theres about 5)
And if your brave and have some $$$, you can do the TCB. Some one took a TC3 and converted it into a 1/10thscale AWD Buggy that looks like the XXX-4, but is better because of shaft drive! Its in the Articles section on RCCA.

I'd stay away from the rally cars, they just don't have the ground clearance.

Ttamiya makes some 4WD Off-road non-rally cars. MRC has the new SB sport and like someone earlier has said...the E-Maxx or Kyosho oelectric onster trucks are fast, handle decent and go anywhere :D

Just because they dont have ground clearnance doesnt mean squat! Cause 90% of bashers do most of their bashing around the house where the real only problem is the Curb and un cut grass. Even my Custom RC10T with all the clearance it can get has trouble with some curbs. So, rally cars are great, provided your not wanting to do any major jumping (as in jumps higher then 6-8 inches) or rock bashing (more then your average rock yard... im talking more so "boulders".)

About the Go anywhere with MT's... ill put money on it they cant...

And I forgot about all the other MT's,

Mad Force
TXT-1
Twin Force
Clod Buster
Pajero
S-10 Stadium
M1025 Hummer
Super Dogfight
TLT-1

Im out of ideas now

Schumacher CAT 3000 is pretty good; I know a couple of people with them, and they handle liek a dream

Academy SB Buggy, Sport Edition. Looking at it you can probably mount truck tires on it. I believe traxxas stampede front rims will work all around.

The buggy however is pretty fun. Cheap too if you get it from ultimatehobbies for only 145 shipped. A few similar durability additions and your all set. The vehicle also would be a great racer too.

Buddy...I'm not going to get lured into a flamewar here, it serves no purpose. I was making a statement based on observations made of people running their HPI RS4 rally cars at our local track in one of the dirt oval classes and watching how they reacted to the different surfaces.

YES you can have a lot ofo fun running and bashing with Rally cars, but the number of surfaces available with a true off-road car or Monster truck is going to be greater...

And yes...those other trucks could also be considred, but what should help make the thread starter's decision is what brands are supported locally, as I'm sure he'll need parts, since no matter what kit he goes with, if he's bashing..chances are he'll be breaking :D

I picked up a Kyosho Lazer ZXR off of ebay for less than $150.00 and race and play with it. You can still get parts for it from tower or just win 2 of them at one time like me.

maybe im being naive or something, but why arent more trucks 4WD? it seems like such a good idea cuz anything offroad would be better with 4WD

ok sorry about this but i am not looking at MTs, to easy to flip, probally wouldn't like it.

Tamiya forgot all about them,. i am looking for a good handling fast basher not a slow poor handling one. so MTs and Twin motor trucks are almost out from the get go.

Get a Baja king. They are $80 and based on the TL01 chassis, which means good parts availability and hop ups. Someone on the tamiya car forums runs it with a novak super sport with no tranny problems, even after 30 runs.

You might have a great deal of interest in the Kyosho Landmax-2 unit
It is a shaft driven AWD unit based on the inferno Buggy.

I bought mine second had and have nothing but GOOD things to say.

It  on-road and seems to take grass / gravel / drops off-road.
Have slamed it into the curb a few times and nothing broken :p

You can even upgrade to a 2 speed trans...I am looking for a 2 speed with reverse (savage transmission ect.) in the distant future.

As most will say a bit on the expensive side but I found a RTR for under $300

it is a 1/8 scale with a .21...
I say the best on the market.... ;)

I don't have a lot of experience with the buggy vs. truck vs. rally thing. All I can tell you is that yesterday I jumped my TC3 rally a distance of about 20 feet with nearly 6 feet of air, and it drove away with nothing broken. To be honest, I jumped it probably 15 times, and the only thing that broke was the wing on my basher body.

The only thing I've found that has stuck my car is grass over 4 inches tall, and that's only if I drive long distances in it.

Monster Rally, please don't take this the wrong way, but this is an :o electric :o forum. It's easy to forget when you've been reading through the posts for a minute and I did it a few times when I was new myself. Don't think I don't appreciate your input (I think the Landmax/MP* series is the ^@&* too!) but I believe our friend is looking for an electric vehicle. Yeah, I know you can build a brushless 1/8 buggy, but even having the money and skill I don't need to get that radical. (I can't win the 2wd stock class at my local offroad track...LOL!!) :p

Both of these are really good off road...

Almost impossible to flip the stadium truck unless I smash a curb, pothole, or something.

The E-Maxx has been lowered and has performance shocks on it now.
The picture shows the stock shocks, but... Anyways, it's a fun off-road truck.

I am going to second and third Cain's recomendation of the SB Sport.
I see it as THE ultimate 1/10 scale non-monster truck bashing vehicle.
I myself am in the process of saving up for one. I allready have its touring car brother, the STR-4. The stampede wheels will work, as they use the same type of hex. And depending on clearnce issues you might have your choice of front or rears. (fronts will give you a wider stance)
