I was at a feild that I used to fly at often until the old timers got out of hand. But.....I decided to try it one more try. As I set my plane on the bench and plugged in the battery.....I noticed one of the old timers playing with what I thought was a Pocket TV. Then....my plane glitched! I mean.....full aileron and rudder!!!!! Then nothing. I should have put it in the car at that point. I have a Berg single conversion reciever, a JR 8103 radio.....I concider my equipment as very good. :o I have never had a glitch at any other feild. As you may guess....I was in the air hovering and ZAP!!!! It glitched again while the old timer was playing with that damn box again!!!! My plane fell into the creek!!!! He said I was bleeding into other channels. I think he is full of S___!!!!!

My question is this....will a channel detector cause a single conversion reciever to glitch? I have NEVER had a problem at any othe feild. Help!

Hello Dave,
As for the question "will a channel detector cause glitches", that is really unlikely. These monitor devices are nothing more than receivers themselves, usually some sort of scanner. The other thing to consider is that someone out of your sight deliberatly came on the air on your frequency as identified by the scanner. You might try turning on just the receiver at a "clean" location such as home and noting the behaviour, then repeating this at the field. While I am not sure what you mean by "old timers", it probably applies to me as well at age 64. If there is malicious activity at the field, AMA can be some help in geting the bad guy(s) off the air.
Regards, Dave

Hey Dave....no offense meant about the age thing!!!! It is just that they are very "cliquie" there. I meant the longerstanding members of that club. I just found it very strange that I only had problems while he was playing with the device. I cleaned it up and was flying the next day....not a problem. I may not renew my membership next year. This was the same feild that I had a mid-air crash with a Speedy bee. Remeber my rants about that topic???? Hahahaha!!!!

Hi Dave,
No offense taken. Fact is, I may be almost the youngest member of the club I fly with. Thankfully, I have not seen any sign of the "clique" thing in this club. I certainly have in other model clubs in an area where I used to live. That is a bummer, and a poor reflection on the state of our hobby. As best I can tell, it seemed to become an issue at about the same time as the "buy and fly" movement got in full swing. As long as we all were busy building, trimming and flying, things went pretty smoothly. Perhaps you could grow a beard or something?:-)
Cheers, Dave
