My last thread mysteriously vanished...***?

I'm looking for advice..I have a TC3 and I just picked up a Trinity D6 8x2. What would be proper gearing for screwing around in parking lots?

try a 20 72 48pitch setup. gear up/down depending on what you want.

For parking lot that motor is going to be a bit hard to control especially with the right gearing. For racing on carpet depending on the motor's power band I use a 75-78 spur and 16-19 pinion. Depending on the size of the area you are running start with the Associated recommended geared (it's in the back of the manual plus there is a gearing chart for the TC3 on the website). Use that as a starting point for yourself going up and down by one tooth as a time until you acheive good acceleration, speed and motor doesn't get extremely hot (wire on armature will darken, brush will turn a darl blue). You can use a pinion too small which is just as bad as using a pinion that too large. Sometimes for bashing depending on the size of the area you can run a little larger pinion than in racing -where you are on and off the throttle for shorter periods, taping brakes to get car slowed. While you are searching and trying different only run it for a short period, changining pinion, running for 30 sec to one minutes -check motor temperature if it still seems cool go up one tooth - if it is getting warm to hot depending on where you went up -go down one tooth if you went to a low pinion (smaller) go up one tooth.

You need to learn to judge what is good acceleration, and overal speed plus you may want to have decent runtime so the best gearing may be somewhere in between. with mod motors you can't always have speed and runtime too.

What I meant was huge, wide open parking lots. Not driveways. I already learned my lesson there. Stay out of driveways and millions of miles away from curbs! :D
So far, the 17t pinion and 72t spur are keeping the motor cool and giving me decent torque and speed. I wouldn't mind a little more top end speed so I'll take your advice and I'll keep playing around with the gearing, tweaking here and there.
Thanks alot guys!
