Hey all,
I have a quick question about air compressors. I have "outgrown" my Paasche D500 and am looking for a replacement. I have looked at the Faskolor, and ones similiar. Do any of you paint with a typical compressor like a Craftsman? I was looking at the Sears website and came across one that I think will work. Its a Craftsman 2 gal, 1.5 Hp, and if it will work, then I am definatley getting it. What are your thoughts on this, thanks in advance!!! BTW, I paint with a Paasche VLS if it matters.

Heres a link to the compressor:

should work just fine for airbrushing will be fairly loud but should give you years of service

I'm in the market for a new compressor too, and it looks like for 30+ PSI for Faskolor, the big 'garage' compressors are the way to go. A quick search on Tower shows only the ~$300 Parma compressor has that much output. I'm sure there are plenty of smaller compressors out there that will work, but you can get a Campbell Hausfield or similar compressor for as little as $100. Unless you really need the small size or quiet operation, it's hard to justify double and triple the cost.

An air tank is an option, I'm considering it because when I do scale models I only need about 15 PSI, but you still need to fill it with a larger compressor (Or the one at the gas station). The upside is that an 11 gallon tank at Home Depot is only $32, and would be completely silent.

Thanks for the info guys!!

While I'm at it, I am also upgrading airbrushes too. I am set on the Iwata eclipse, however ( Eclipse users) which ones do you use? the HP-BCS, BS, CS, or BS? I primarily paint with Faskolor, which leads me to think I should get the HP-SBS for thicker paints. Any info would help, thanks.

I currentlly use a Passche VLS as well as an Iwata HP-CS.

If your looking for large garage type compressors on ebay they have quite a few to choose from for around 100$ US
