Hi Everybody

Me and my friend are looking for an advice on rc-cars.We would like to buy a rc-car preferably an off-road car but we know nothing about the rc-cars and we are looking for someone who could help us out.We have so many questions but for starters we would like to find out which companies cars are the best for so called "weekend-enthusiasts".
We have found on internet Traxxas,Kyosho,
Nikko homepages but it feels that theres more than theses three... Could someone guide us a little? We would appreciate any replay.

Thank You

Nikko are the cheapo cars you buy in Toys R Us or somewhere... Traxxas is one of the best rtr (ready to run which means almost everything is included with the truck to get you up and running) They make good bashers, the STAMPEDE, RUSTLER, EMAXX, etc. For info on these cars check out http://www.towerhobbies.com Welcome to r/c!!! someone else can probably help you more, this is a good message board for information... hope I helped a little though http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Have you narrowed it down to a gas or an electric car? I'd recommend an eletric or nitro Stampede. Both are great backyard bashers for begginers and Traxxas offers great support to their customers. A lot of people are going to tell you to get a T-Maxx, but I wouldn't listen to them. If you eventually wanted an all out 4WD monster truck there are better trucks out there. Like I said though, go with a Stampede you won't be dissapointed.

For starters, here's some links...

Car manufactures: www.traxxas.com (http://www.traxxas.com) www.teamlosi.com (http://www.teamlosi.com) www.teamassociated.com (http://www.teamassociated.com) www.yokomousa.com (http://www.yokomousa.com) www.hpiracing.com (http://www.hpiracing.com)

"Accories": www.teamtrinity.com (http://www.teamtrinity.com) www.miponline.com (http://www.miponline.com) www.hudy.net (http://www.hudy.net) www.pro-lineracing.com (http://www.pro-lineracing.com) www.tekin.com (http://www.tekin.com) www.teamnovak.com (http://www.teamnovak.com) www.hobbies.net/futaba (http://www.hobbies.net/futaba) www.jrradios.com (http://www.jrradios.com)

R/C Sites: www.rccaraction.com (http://www.rccaraction.com) www.rcnitro.com (http://www.rcnitro.com) www.rcyellowpages.com (http://www.rcyellowpages.com) www.rctouring.com (http://www.rctouring.com)

For right now, don't worry about anything other than the manufactures sites, but add the others to your Favorite's List because they'll come in handy later on.

Ok, now for picking a car... Since this is your 1st R/C, I STRONGLY suggest an electric! They're a lot less maintenance, and somewhat cheaper. Something like a Traxxas Stampede or Rustler would be great. My first was a Stampede (I just bought another one a few months ago to play with!) and it was awsome! It's tough, low-cost, and there's a lot of hop-ups out for it. Wheather you get a kit or RTR is really up to you. RTR's are nice because they can get you up and running within hours of buying it. But, kit's are nice because you learn how to build your car, and this helps A LOT when you need to fix it. (Guarananteed-you WILL break stuff!!!!!) The down side of a kit is that you need to buy your own radio, ESC, and motor sepperatly. I'm pretty sure Traxxas gives you a motor and MSC with their kits.(This can be a good thing too, depends on how you look at it.) Now, if you think racing is something you'd like to get into fairly soon... Maybe look at something like a XXXT, T3, or the buggy versions of these trucks. They're a little more expensive, and most are only in kit form. You'll need to buy a radio, motor, ESC, and if you want to, a servo. Even though they're more expensive, just remember, "You get what you pay for!"

I really hope this helps some. R/C is a great hobby that most likely you'll be with for a VERY LONG time!!!!! Have fun with it, and don't get discouraged because things aren't going your way. Just take a little break from what you're doing, and try it again. Also, 99.9% of the people in this hobby will love to help you out as much as they possibly can! Don't be affraid to ask questions, wheather on here, another chat/message board, or in person. Talk to ya later!

There is what i think you should look into.

Backyard Basher: Traxxas Rustler & Stampede

Serious Racing: Team Associated T3 or B3. Losi XXX-T or XXX. maybe a Traxxas Rustler

Good Ready To Run Kits (RTR): Traxxas Rustler. Team Associated T3 (if you can find one)

Just go check out www.towerhobbies.com (http://www.towerhobbies.com) . You are going to find something you like. The ones i have said are the ones i would pick if i was first starting out, but maybe not the Losi or Associated if you have limited cash flow.

If you buy a kit instead of RTR you are going to need the following: Electronic Speed Control (ESC), stock motor and later on move up to modified, servo, radio, reciver, batterys, charger for batterys, paint for body.

As you can see thats alot of stuff and will add up. So like i said if you have low cash flow your best bet is to get a Traxxas Rustler RTR. You are going to need a battery adn a charger no matter what cuz none of the kits come with one. Hope i helped.

I think the nitro rustler is a very good truck to buy. It isnt to much money to buy rtr, and it will take a beaten and keep on going and it is fast and will keep up with the xxx,and the gts, if you buy the right after market parts. I know I have a budy that just bought one and my rustler takes a beaten while his doesnt handel the hard hits as easy and I will keep up with him or beat him depending on my set up. I just beat him and another guy in a rae Sunday we had at a local track and they had the gts, and It was my first race ever and i wasnt getting andy tracton in the corners.

I like the Tamiya and Traxxas cars/trucks. The Tamiya people have EXCELLENT instructions for their kits and Traxxas probly has the best customer support. I have an original Tamiya Hornet (circa 1989) that still runs. It has been very abused and hasn't broken too many times. Never has it broken to the point that it couldn't be fixed for less than $50. However I now have a T-Maxx and it is expensive to break. At least the parts are widely available. You can buy Tamiya kits starting at about $69 - $129 that are a good starting point but they will never be serious contenders at the track. But at least if you decide that RC isn't for you you will not be out a ton of cash.... Yeah right!! I have yet to meet anyone that has gone to the point of purchasing a "NON-Toy" RC car and not gotten hooked

WW, The traxxas cars are great fun. They are tough, quick, easy to work on, and easily hopped up to improve performance. I wouild strongly recomment the rustler or the stampede. For backyard bashing I would give the nod to the stampede because it goes over more stuff including grass because of the ground clearance. It is also suprisingly nimble for a tall truck. If you plan to race at all go for the rustler. These two trucks give the best bang for the buck. Welcome to the best hobby there is. Also, check out the search options on this BB because there is a ton of info on both of these cars http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

I would recomend that you get either a traxas electric rustler or stampede, a cheap peak charger(mrc and duratrax make some) and some sport batery packs. I strongly recomend that you DO NOT get a nitro for your first rc.

this topic is going to get big so i sugest that you make another topic for your other questions.

j mAn is correct! Stay away from nitro as a first R/C car/truck. They can be a little frustrating until you get the hang of them.
