Hi all,
I just picked up a used Hitec Lynx. It's in great shape, except that the previous owner put a bunch of stickers(not decals) all over! I got most of them off, but there's lots of residue left over. I was going to try alcohol, but as soon as it hit the black, the black turned a whitish colour. Not good. Is there anything else I can use or do to get this crud off without messing up the black color?

I don't know how it treats plastics, but Brake Cleaner works to get the residue left from the vinal decals we use on Stock Cars. I'd DEFINATLEY try it on some "scrap" plastic, before on your transmitter!

Go to a medical supply store and get some adhesive remover wipes. They work beautifully for ANYTHING sticky. I use them all the time for all kinds of stuff. I even keep some in my toolbox for the time a sticky stiuation may arise. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

Believe it or not, WD-40 will take that off and it won't harm the plastic. I've been using WD-40 to remove glue from decals and also the residue for years.

or you can try DuraTrax powershot motor cleaner. I havent found anything (any plastics) that it screws up. just spray it on a rag, then wipe the radio off. You may want to test it on the bottom first, to be sure it wont mess up the plastic.

Thanks Dirtracin!! The WD-40 worked GREAT! I just sprayed a bunch on a rag, dabbed it over the sticky stuff, let it sit for a bit and then used some elbow grease and it seemed to just melt right off! And it gave the pastic a nice new shine http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif Heh...had to wash the handle though. I'll be keeping a small can of WD-40 in my R/C tool box now!
