I've heard that I can remove colored anodizing off of aluminum pieces by soaking them in oven cleaner. Is this true? How long must I soak things? I want to remove the blue off of some Trinity stuff. Tell me, why does EVERYTHING have to be blue? I have to go against the trendy blue hop-ups; I want my truck to be somewhat unique. This will work, won't it?

I tryed removing the anodizing from my MIP 360 stinger pipe and the oven cleaner pitted my pipe terribly. I don't recommend trying it with oven cleaner. I posted about this once too and was told that theres a product that will remove the anodizing without hurting the aluminum, unfortunately I don't remember the name. Maybe Steve Pond or someone else out there can tell you what to use.

Are you sure it wasn't pitted in the first place and it just showed up better after the anodizing was gone? How long did it take? Maybe that happened because you let it soak too long. Could that have been it, too?

What else could (or should) I use, fellas?

My Pipe was Not Pitted before I used the oven cleaner, and yeah im sure it soaked to long. Its your call as to whether you want to chance it with the oven cleaner. A post I read on another site said to spray the pipe and let it soak for 2 to 3 minutes, then scrub it with a stiff bristle brush or a Scotch pad, then give it a good rinsing.
Good Luck http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/wink.gif

I used oven cleaner to strip the black off of my pipe and it pitted it also. I recommend you go to www.caswellplating.com (http://www.caswellplating.com) and buy some aluminum anodizing stripper. It's expensive, but it's made specifically for removing anodizing without harming the metal.

Just use a buffing wheel with some metal polish. It will take a bit of work but it will work very nicely.
