Why can't I get into the chat room?!?!?

I was just in a couple minutes ago, then the "ghost" Administrator (I'm not even going to START saying what I think of them right now... Trust me, it ain't good!) booted me! He was booting people for typing stupid links like www.I'm_cool.com (http://www.I'm_cool.com) . But, I didn't type any, and I got booted! Then I went to log on again, and it says "A client was not specified!" What's going on????? I typed in my screne name&password, each one like 3 different times!

I will be discussing options with the the other editors in the morning to see what we can do to re-open the chat without having to deal with the immature visitors who take pride in being disruptive. This does nothing to promote the hobby. There are simply too many problem users.

It is sad that people of that type come to this chat in the first place. I mean they where doing that last night. Immature is the best word to describe them... I respect what you did Steve, It was best for this site, Say some onlookers who where thinking about joining the "team" were in there deciding and those immature kids started typing those addresses, That may turn them off to this great magazine. I feel sorry for those kid's parents...

Maxx - it's unfortunate. I enjoy participating in chat and doing what I can to help people that are genuinely there to chat about RC cars and get help when needed. Babysitting those that only want to cause trouble is taking too much of our time.

I agree Steve! Babysitting in a chat is taking up time of which we could be using for RC Talk. Sometimes people are so immature I wonder if their moms are typing for them... We must find a way to get rid of them...

Steve, I Hated to see this Happen, but honesty I seen it coming. It is truely a shame that Immature people like them had to ruin it for those of us who are there to enjoy the chat and help when we can.

Steve, you did the right thing. Sorry for being ****** off at the Admin. who was in the room (you?). But, I was thinking I had gotten screwed over, and I guess we all did! But, I hope you guys can figure out a way to controll what people say and how they act better. I'm really gratefull that there's a chat room devoted to R/C racing, and I'm sure 99% of everyone else is too, but there's still that 1% who couldn't care less. Maybe we just need more administrators, but then again, once the administrator boots somebody, that person has allready said what they're going to say, and the damage has allready been done. I just hope it doesn't ever get to the point, where all messages have to be read by an administrator before everyone else gets to see them. That would really wreck the room, but if that's what it comes to... What can you do???

I know I haven't allways been "perfect", but I've tried my hardest to not let myself sink to the level of the people who caused this. It's really pathetic, that people have to act this way. It accomplishes nothing other than making everyone else pay for what they did. What's even more pathetic than that though, is that there's a thread, that I can post this message in. I shouldn't have had to make it, but here it is... Prooving just how stupid some people are.

"usually"?????? WHAT?!?!? LOL. I kind of figured out that I got booted because the chat got shut down after I read a few posts. But, you know.... In a way, this isn't all bad (for me, not necessarily everyone else) because I've been spending a little too much time on there, and need to take a little "break". Maybe WORK on my car, instead of TALK about it! But, I can't wait untill it's re-opened. Any idea on how long it could be????? Maybe just not being allowed on for a week or something, will make people think twice about how lucky we all are, that you guys spend time and money to give us a chat room.

Steve - It might be a good thing you shut it down. Now (hopefully) "those" people will learn that chat is a privlidge, and not a right. I really hope chat can be up and running soon. As DC said.. Yeah, It is almost a break for me. Even though I am in the stages of withdrawl..lol.. I have been spending alot of time there.

failsafe... I'm not completely sure who you are, but I've got an idea. I'm sure it started out as a joke, but after people start asking you to stop (Administrator included), it's time to stop! After that, it's not a joke anymore. I have no problem with having fun on there, but the main reason I go into the chat is to try learning something, and help out anybody that I can. When people start doing things like you did, it makes my goal all most impossible to do, and discourages others from coming back. Doing things like you did, makes a joke out of the chat room. I've told a couple people from my track about it (They're frequently on TechTalk), but I haven't seen them on yet. They all asked, "Is it actually usefull, or a waste of time?" I said it was usefull 90% of the time... VERY usefull!!! I told them about the RCCA editors being on, and all that good stuff. But, what do you think they'd think if they logged on for the 1st time, and saw what was going on the other day???? Not only would they probably never come back, but it would make ME PERSONNALY look like a lier!!! So, I'm not taking this to a personnal level, but in way, it's allready there.

Wow, whenever something happens in chat I am never there, I have no idea what went down today but is it something I want to know? I hope that it will be turned back on, (hopefully) but from what I can asume if chat was shut down it must have been pretty bad. But I will do almost anything to get it turned back on. You could have members report people who disrupt the chat and they can be banned for a few days if a certain # of peepz report them, and after a # of bans they get IP banned.

Those of you who think it is funny ruining the chat for everyone I hope you are happy now.

I dont get it. Every once in a while my IP address gets blocked from posting on the board what have I done wrong. I dont think I have done anything wrong. Have I. t3master..... Then you're coming on at the wrong times. Around 4:00pmCST->11:00pmCST it's pretty popular. Somedays there's around 10 of us, others theres 25! I don't know how many people are signed up for the Chat Room, but I wouldn't expect any more than 30 at a time. It get's too crowed then anyways.
