I have finished building my MF2 truck and I have a question about the diff. When building the diff the instructions told me exactly when to add diff grease but it never said to add grease to the actual gears or even the spur. I am a bit confused whether to actually grease the diff gears or leave them dry, I understand a lot of you will see this question as stupid and I understand if I am ridiculed but I do need to know what to do. As you can probably tell I haven't built many kits.

Leave them dry.

I have never put any type of lubricant on a spur, but I always apply a small amount of lubricant to the teeth on the diff gear. Alot of the "Pros" recommend doing it. It cuts down on wear a little and helps to keep it running quieter. I never use anything that is really thin though. It may just sling off. In the past I used a lube made by Paragon that went on wet and dried in 15-20 seconds. It was an awesome product, but I haven't seen it for a few years. Now I use a few drops of shock oil or something similar. I have to add that I don't run the stock nylon type diff gear. I use an aluminum one made by HG. Hope this helps!

Always take whatever 'pro' drivers do with a grain of salt: They are interested in absolute speed and low lap times, and don't care if something could possibly prematurely wear out a part. They also tend to race on well-prepared tracks, and don't mind rebuilding or replacing parts and assemblies regularly.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. Once again you are all helpful and you don't ridicule those who are inexperienced. I wish I could say the same for several other r/c forums
