Best Battery/Charger??

What would be the best charger and battery for some one just starting in the hobby with a traxxas stampede?

I am not sure how much I need to spend to get something good but I don’t want to spend much more than $60 if I don’t need to.

Well I was considering getting a DuraTrax Piranha AC/DC Digital Peak Charger, is that a good charger? Is NiMH the way to go?

Or could is it not really worth the extra money if I am not going to be racing? Then possibly getting the DuraTrax Piranha AC/DC Peak Charger and only NiCd batteries.

Also how much mAH should I look for? And would a 7 cell pack make much diffrence?

get a duratrax intelli pulse charger and an epic 3000 thats less than $70 for both on tower and a 7 cell has more voltage and u will see a noticeable differance between the 6 and 7 cell

The piranah is a decent charger. And yes, nimh is the way to go because nicd's develop "cell memory" which is bad. If just bashing, get something like the epic 3000 packs. 7 cell packs do make a difference. More power to the motor however=more wear on the motor. Its just not worth it i dont think.

you could get 6 cell packs with good GP3300 cells, they offer great performance.
