I read somewhere about soaking drive belts in wd-40. Can somebody elaborate on this? Also what about cutting off every other wedge on a belt? thanks

the wd40 makes the belt softer, making the car more efficient.
Cutting off every other tooth is less friction, so the drive train is more free

If the belt is softer though, its more likely to break isnt it?

i think if it softer it will stretch instead just snap. about the cutting the tooth of the belt.....never heard of that.

basically you cut off every other tooth of the belt
i was getting advice from my track "mentor" and he suggested that, but not for now. I need to work on other stuff first.

I soak my XXX-S belt in Zubak's Speed Lube and I cut off every other tooth. Super smooth drive train! Although you'll have to seal the drive train because if too much dirt/carpet gets in there, it'll "eat" everything up.
I put a very thin layer of grease around the lower belt cover and that square piece where the steering goes through. Servo tape on the gear cover and it's all sealed up. Course eventually stuff gets through from the bearings.
