I'm running an XX-4WE: 3000NiMH, LRP ESC with a D4 9Turn Triple motor (17t Pinion)...the motor is fine for one battery pack - but when I run another pack right after the first I can hold my finger on the endbell (correct term?) for only 1-2 seconds...it's VERY hot.

Is this normal? If so - what's a safe time running for motors? How long before you might do real damage?

You should let your motor cool before you run it again and if its that hot then get some type of a heatsink because its bad for your motor.

You shouldn't run packs back to back. It's a competition set-up and it's not meant to be run for 8 minutes without cooling down between packs. Let the motor cool to ambient temperature before running another pack.
