I've done both...I prefer Nitro to Electric.

I have also done both and prefer nitro to electric. Mostly because they are faster(for the money) but can be very finicky sometimes which is hard to deal with when you are new to the hobby. It was a good idea to start with an electric so you know all the "vehicle" part and when you go to gas all you have to learn is the "engine" part.

Lets not forget that over the long run, nitro will be cheaper than electric. I have several nitro cars and one electric buggy. The buggy costs me more to operate than all my nitroes combined! between motors, brushes, comm lathes, batteries, chargers... well, you get the picture, I spend a lot of money on all that stuff and what do I spend on my nitroes? Fuel and an occasional sleeve and piston. Oh and my receiver packs. Not to mention that nitro is just a ton of fun and will definitely draw spectators. Electric is easier, granted, but nitro will give you longer runs (low on fuel? pull over and fill up then go again!), cooler sounds, faster vehicles and if your lucky a couple of nasty burns to show off later! Either way, you'll have fun, but if you just want to mess around, grab a nitro. And as far as that "petrol" thing, I'm not sure about that, but I would stick with nitro if I were you http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif
